Watching, but not waiting: vascular neurology perspective on the disparate regulatory pathways for stroke
Vascular neurologists have keenly watched the Watchman device (Atritech, Plymouth, Minnesota, USA) regulatory approval process. We are, as always, searching for additional options in the prevention and treatment of stroke to better care for our patients, and new approaches to the management of atrial fibrillation play a large part in this effort. E-114 Rescue suction mechanical thrombectomy of medium-small vessel occlusion in a pediatric patient presented with acute ischemic stroke
ConclusionEndovascular aspiration mechanical thrombectomy of MSVO is feasible in pediatric patients presenting with AIS and associated with good functional outcome. Additionally, when acute ongoing neurological deficit is present and CTA is inconclusive, a digital subtraction angiography is deemed needed to identify MSVO as the yields of CTA diminishes significantly beyond LVO. Response from the SAMMPRIS trial principal investigators regarding inaccuracies in this editorial
As the principal investigators for the Stenting and Aggressive Medical Management for the Prevention of Recurrent Ischemic Stroke (SAMMPRIS) trial,1 we are compelled to address a few inaccuracies regarding this study in the recent editorial by Dr Alexander.2 The first point is the patient population. The SAMMPRIS population was the right patient population to test. Patient selection, physician experience and antiplatelet therapy testing are critical

Correlation between intracranial vertebral artery stenosis diameter measured by digital subtraction angiography and cross-sectional area measured by optical coherence tomography
Conclusion Measurement of the narrowest diameter was not a reliable predictor of the cross-sectional area of V4 stenosis. Larger studies are therefore needed to develop a new evaluation system based on V4 stenosis.
