P-006 The 'hub-spoke telemedicine model in a large cohort of stroke patients
ConclusionTele-stroke networks have proven to be a pivotal development in the treatment of strokes, especially those that are remote. With the additional expertise and the shorter duration from onset to diagnosis to treatment, these networks have substantially improved patient care and decreased healthcare costs, avoiding unnecessary transfers from spoke hospitals to hub.Abstract P-006 Figure 1Abstract P-006 Figure 2Disclosures K. Quantified health and cost effects of faster endovascular treatment for large vessel ischemic stroke patients in the Netherlands
Conclusion One-minute faster EVT increases QALYs while cumulative costs remain largely unaffected. Therefore, faster EVT provides better value of care at no extra healthcare costs.

EP51* Burden of tough to retrieve clots in acute ischemic stroke: clinical and economic impact of increasing retrieval attempts in mechanical thrombectomy
ConclusionOdds of achieving good outcomes decline with MT passes, while care costs increase. Thrombectomy devices that improve interaction with tough clots for rapid and complete retrieval in fewer passes may improve clinical and economic outcomes.ReferencesYoo AJ. E-045 Product Cost and Utilization in Mechanical Thrombectomy: A Comparison of Techniques
ConclusionA cursory evaluation of the data from this selected subset of patients suggests that there may be no significant difference in overall product cost to the patient for utilization of these two techniques for performance of mechanical thrombectomy. However, upon closer inspection of the data, the cost for aspiration thrombectomy appears to vary quite widely across the subset, with a standard deviation of $22470.99, while the standard deviation for stent retrieval is $2846.91. It is difficult to determine whether this trend would be borne out in a larger sample set; however, it may suggest that product utilization i...

E-129 nihss assessment during the stroke hospitalization is a significant predictor of 90-day functional outcome in the natural history of acute ischemic stroke from large vessel occlusion
ConclusionNIHSS at 24 h and at 7 days or discharge had a strong correlation with 90-day functional outcome. This study provides invaluable information for stroke physicians to be able to prognosticate when they talk to patients and family members at the end of hospitalization. In addition, this landmark study will help recruitment and completion of future medical device trials on stroke patients much faster and cost-effectively, thereby bringing down healthcare costs and facilitating newer medical devices for stroke treatment to become available to patients sooner.Abstract E-129 Table 1Correlation between ASPECTS and NIHSS...
