Distribution of risk factors differs from coronary heart disease and stroke in China: a national population survey
Conclusions
The distribution of risk factors for CHD and stroke were substantial differences. More specific prevention and control measures should be formulated according to the distribution differences of risk factors related to CVD.

Prevalence of stroke and associated risk factors: a population-based cross-sectional study from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau of China
Conclusions
The prevalence of stroke, the related risk factors and the detection rate of high-risk individuals were clarified. The prevalence rates of hypertension, overweight or obesity and diabetes in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau were all higher than the Chinese average. Higher-altitude exposure may be an independent risk factor for stroke.

Lipid management in ischaemic stroke or transient ischaemic attack in China: result from China National Stroke Registry III
Conclusions
The LDL-C goal achievement rate has increased mildly in the stroke and TIA population in mainland China. Lowered baseline LDL-C level was significantly associated with a decreased short- and long-term risk of ischemic stroke among stroke and TIA patients. LDL-C<1.4mmol/L might be a safe standard for this population.

Stroke prevention of thoracoscopic left atrial appendage clipping in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation at high risk of stroke and bleeding: study protocol for a non-randomised controlled clinical trial
Introduction
Non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) is a high-risk factor for ischaemic stroke. The 2016 European Society of Cardiology Atrial Fibrillation Management guidelines recommend oral anticoagulants (OACs) to prevent stroke in men with CHA2DS2-VASc scores ≥2 and women ≥3. However, in patients with a high risk of stroke and a high risk of bleeding (HAS-BLED (Hypertension, Abnormal renal/liver function, Stroke, Bleeding history or predisposition, Labile international normalized ratio, Elderly (> 65 years), Drugs/alcohol concomitantly) score≥3), OAC had a higher risk of bleeding. Left atrial appendage cl...

Association between fasting blood glucose levels and stroke events: a large-scale community-based cohort study from China
Conclusions
Higher FBG level was independently associated with an increased risk of stroke in Chinese adults, especially significant in women.

Hospital management of major stroke types in Chinese adults: a population-based study of 20 000 hospitalised stroke cases
Conclusions
Among IS cases, use of antiplatelet and lipid-lowering medications increased in recent years, but use of TCM still exceeded use of blood pressure-lowering treatment. In contrast, blood pressure-lowering treatment was widely used for ICH, but only half of all ICH cases used blood pressure-lowering treatment.

Predictors for the prognosis and recurrence of ischaemic stroke among young Chinese patients: a cohort study
Conclusions
Our research shows that when developing prevention strategies for young people, measures that focus on mitigating risk factors should be considered. In addition, vascular screening of young populations is also of vital importance for stroke prevention and poor prognosis prediction.

Effects of a social participation-focused virtual reality intervention for community-dwelling stroke survivors with physical disabilities: a randomised controlled trial protocol
Introduction
Studies show that stroke survivors encounter physical and psychological limitations that restrict their participation in social and community activities. Systematic reviews have yielded inconclusive evidence regarding the effectiveness of different interventions intended to support stroke survivors’ social participation. Recent advances in virtual reality technology may offer promising solutions, although the optimal approach to enhance social participation among stroke survivors is yet to be determined. This trial aims to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of a social participation-focused virtual r...

Protocol for Home-Based Solution for Remote Atrial Fibrillation Screening to Prevent Recurrence Stroke (HUA-TUO AF Trial): a randomised controlled trial
The objective of the study was to explore the use of long-term home-based ECG monitoring for AF detection and stroke prevention in patients with a history of stroke.
Methods and analysis
This prospective, randomised, open-label trial with blinded endpoint adjudication aimed to evaluate the efficacy of long-term home-based ECG monitoring for AF detection and stroke prevention in a 24-month period. Patients aged >18 years with a history of ischaemic stroke will be stratified according to the time from the index ischaemic stroke: <1, 1–3 and >3 years and then randomised in 1:1 to (1) home-based AF screening an...

Neurology care and the long-term outcomes of atrial fibrillation-related ischaemic stroke in China: median 3-year outcome from a high volume academic tertiary hospital
Conclusions
Secondary stroke prevention in AF patients associated with neurology care is challenging in China, as manifested by a lower AF detection rate, significant underuse of OACs, high mortality and recurrent stroke rate. Efforts to increasing the AF detection rate and reinforce education on neurologists should be made to improve neurology care and intensify posthospital management in such patients.

Remote interventions for informal caregivers of patients with stroke: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Conclusions
Current evidence suggests that remote interventions for informal caregivers of patients who had a stroke have no significant superiority over traditional interventions. However, the quality of the included studies was low and more high-quality evidence is required to determine the possible impacts of remote interventions.

Association between hospital volume, processes of care and outcomes after acute ischaemic stroke: a prospective observational study
Conclusions
We found no significant associations between hospital volume, processes of care at the hospital, and mortality, recurrent stroke, and combined vascular events in patients with ischaemic stroke. However, hospital volume may be associated with poor outcome at 1 year.
