Applicability of carotid artery stenting for patients 80 years or older: a single-center experience
A meta-analysis found that for internal carotid artery stenosis procedures in elderly patient, the risk of perioperative stroke is significantly higher for carotid artery stenting (CAS) than for carotid endarterectomy (CEA). We retrospectively examined characteristics and perioperative results of CAS for 80 years and over at a single medical center.

Intra-arterial Papaverine-Hydrochloride and Transluminal Balloon Angioplasty for the Neurointerventional Management of Delayed Onset Post Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage Vasospasm
After subarachnoid hemorrhage delayed onset vasospasm can result in devastating ischemic stroke. The phenomenon of delayed cerebral ischemia (DCI) is yet not fully understood and the correlation of angiographic vasospasm and cerebral infarction is still unclear. Therefore, this study is set out to investigate the impact of endovascular treatment on angiographic response and occurrence of DCI.

Iatrogenic removal of the intima in the middle cerebral artery by a stent retriever: A report of two cases
Mechanical thrombectomy improves functional outcomes in patients with acute ischemic stroke. However, stent retrievers have the risk of vascular damage.

Endovascular Retrieval of Migrated Coil within the Distal Middle Cerebral Artery Using Stentriever Device
We present a case of a balloon-assisted coil embolization of a communicating segment internal carotid artery aneurysm, complicated by coil migration far distally into the middle cerebral artery, which was successfully retrieved using a stentriever.

In Reply to the Letter to the Editor Regarding “Endovascular Mechanical Thrombectomy for Acute Ischemic Stroke Under General Anesthesia Versus Conscious Sedation: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis”
We applaud the authors for their rigorous attention to detail regarding the methodology of our study.1 However, we fear their efforts may be somewhat undermined by their inaccurate citation of the manuscript title at the outset of their letter. We concede that the methodologic approach in our meta-analysis can be both improved upon and described in more detail. Nonetheless, the primary weakness of the study is the paucity of data and quality of included studies.

Letter to the Editor Regarding “Endovascular Mechanical Thrombectomy for Acute Ischemic Stroke Under General Anesthesia Versus Conscious Sedation: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis”
It was with great interest that we read the article “Endovascular mechanical thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke under general anesthesia versus conscious sedation: a systematic review and meta-analysis,”1 published in the Volume 112 of WORLD NEUROSURGERY. The public health implications of recommending moderate analgesia (i.e., conscious sedat ion) or general anesthesia for medical procedures make this article timely and opportune. However, several methodologic and reporting issues raise questions about the quality of the review which could impact the utility of the findings.

Streptococcus mutans with Collagen-Binding Protein: From Oral Cavity to Brain
In this study, the authors found a statistically significant relationship between CNM positivity and cardioembolic stroke, noncardioembolic stroke infarct, and ruptured intracranial aneurysms. Also, it is app reciable that authors ruled out a significant relationship between CNM positivity and other risk factors, such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, smoking, and alcohol consumption.

Prediction of intracranial arterial stenosis progression in patients with moyamoya vasculopathy: contrast-enhanced high-resolution magnetic resonance vessel wall imaging
Moyamoya vasculopathy (MMV) is characterized by progressive stenosis of the intracranial arteries. MMV currently has no curative treatments, and cerebral ischemia and hemorrhage are the major outcomes. Evaluation of the stroke risk of each patient due to the progression of intracranial arterial stenosis is clinically important.
