Boston Scientific touts 1-year stroke reduction results in Watchman non-valvular AF trial

Abbott wins CE Mark for Confirm Rx cardiac monitor
Abbott (NYSE:ABT) said today that its St. Jude Medical (NYSE:STJ) subsidiary won CE Mark approval in the European Union for the ConfirmRx insertable cardiac monitor, touting as the world’s 1st smartphone-compatible ICM. Stable blood sugar linked to heart stent outcomes
Patients with type 2 diabetes and a coronary stent are at lower risk for heart attack and stroke if they maintain good blood sugar control, according to a recent study. “Although intensive glucose control had no benefit on the rate of major cardiovascular events in previous studies, our data suggest that strict glucose control after PCI (heart catheterization) can improve long-term clinical outcomes in diabetic patients,” Dr. Joo-Yong Hahn from Samsung Medical Center in Seoul said in an interview with Reuters Health. Aspect Imaging raises $30m
MRI maker Aspect Imaging has raised $30 million in a new round of financing, according to VC & equity site Finsmes. Funding from the round will go to support the development of its Embrace Neonatal MRI system and a newer, stroke-dedicated MRI system, the Israel-based company said. Aspect Imaging did not release details on the investors in the round, according to the report. The company, founded in 2003, has raised a total of $150 million, with $20 million coming from a round last year. ReWalk Robotics Japanese automakers, including Toyota (NSDQ:ADR), are reportedly turning their focus to robots to help the country’s rapidly aging society. Codman Neuro acquires Neuravi
Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) business unit Codman Neuro said today it acquired Neuravi and its portfolio of neurovascular therapy technology for an undisclosed amount. ISHLT 2017: Medtronic HVAD trial misses primary endpoint, reports lowered stroke rates
Medtronic (NYSE:MDT) said today that results from the Endurance supplemental trial of its HVAD heart pump system did not meet its primary endpoint, but did report  lowered stroke rates compared to standard treatment.
