Abstract 016: Endovascular Management of Major Vascular Access Site Complications During Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI). Session Title: Poster Session I
Conclusion: Many patients with major vascular complications during TAVI can be treated with a pure endovascular approach. In our small series we observed no difference in concurrent complications when an endovascular repair can be rapidly initiated as compared to a primary surgical approach.

Abstract 155: Prevalence and Clinical Correlates of Left Ventricular Hypertrophy by Sokolow-Lyon and Cornell Electrocardiogram Voltage Criteria in Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement Patients Session Title: Poster Session II
Conclusion: The presence of LVH by Sokolow-Lyon and Cornell ECG voltage criteria poorly correlates with the presence of LVH and critical aortic stenosis in TAVR patients. Women are more likely to have voltage criteria for LVH. Therefore, ECG may not be a suitable method of screening patients with severe aortic stenosis for LVH, especially in men.

Safety and Use of Anticoagulation After Aortic Valve Replacement With Bioprostheses: A Meta-Analysis Original Articles
Conclusions— Contrary to the current guidelines, a meta-analysis of previous studies suggests that anticoagulation in the setting of an aortic bioprosthesis significantly increases bleeding risk without a favorable effect on thromboembolic events. Larger, randomized controlled studies should be performed to further guide this clinical practice.

Vancouver Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement Clinical Pathway: Minimalist Approach, Standardized Care, and Discharge Criteria to Reduce Length of Stay Innovations in Care
We describe the development, implementation, and evaluation of a standardized clinical pathway to facilitate safe discharge home at the earliest time after transfemoral transcatheter aortic valve replacement. Between May 2012 and October 2014, the Heart Team developed a clinical pathway suited to the unique requirements of transfemoral transcatheter aortic valve replacement in contemporary practice. The components included risk-stratified minimalist periprocedure approach, standardized postprocedure care with early mobilization and reconditioning, and criteria-driven discharge home. Our aim was to reduce variation in care,...

Abstract 234: Comparison of Hospital Length of Stay and Costs between Non-valvular Atrial Fibrillation Patients Treated with Either Apixaban or Warfarin Session Title: Poster Session II
Conclusions: NVAF patients treated with apixaban had significantly shorter hospital LOS and lower index hospitalization costs compared to those treated with warfarin. Costs remained significantly lower for apixaban patients across all CHADS2 scores.

Abstract 360: How Should We Measure Quality of Care for Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI)? Results for 6 Quebec TAVI Programs Compared with International Registries Session Title: Poster Session III
Conclusions: Practice and outcomes in TAVI vary widely across Quebec hospitals and internationally. Despite publication of recommended endpoints (VARC and BARC), there is a lack of standardized reported outcomes and patient populations. While quality benchmarks for patient selection and outcomes remain unclear, continued monitoring with timely feedback to TAVI teams and decision-makers is essential for this new and costly intervention that is predominantly being performed in the very elderly.

Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement in Nonsurgical Candidates With Severe, Symptomatic Aortic Stenosis: A Cost-Effectiveness Analysis Original Articles
Conclusions— TAVR seems to be an effective but somewhat expensive alternative to medical management among patients with symptomatic aortic stenosis ineligible for surgery. TAVR is more cost-effective for patients with a lower burden of noncardiac disease.

Abstract 227: Prescribing Warfarin at Discharge for Heart Failure Patients without Atrial Fibrillation Findings from the Get With The Guidelines-Heart Failure Registry Poster Session II
Conclusions: Approximately 1 in 10 HF patients without AF or other documented indications are prescribed warfarin at discharge, and prescription rates vary widely across hospitals. Further research is needed to understand why anticoagulation is prescribed to patients with HF in the absence of documented indications.
