Radiological and clinical features of twig-like middle cerebral artery in comparison with moyamoya angiopathy: a multicenter retrospective study
CONCLUSIONS: This study suggests that T-MCA is a different disease entity from MMA based on significant differences in the radiological and clinical features. Neurosurgeons should recognize this anomaly and understand the key features that differentiate T-MCA from MMA.PMID:35426829 | DOI:10.3171/2022.2.JNS212338

Morphological characteristics of symptomatic and asymptomatic carotid webs
CONCLUSIONS: Patients with CWs that occupy more than half of the diameter of the carotid bulb lumen and are situated at acute angles relative to the carotid wall are more likely to present with acute ischemic stroke. Additional studies are needed to determine the long-term outcomes of these lesions.PMID:35426815 | DOI:10.3171/2022.2.JNS212310

Endovascular treatment of anterior cranial base dural arteriovenous fistulas as a first-line approach: a multicenter study
CONCLUSIONS: Most anterior cranial base DAVFs can be successfully treated via an endovascular approach. Neurological and visual complications are rare, even if the ophthalmic artery is used as the primary access route. Efforts should be focused on prospectively comparing the results of EVT and surgical management.PMID:35395632 | DOI:10.3171/2022.2.JNS212588

The demography of idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus: data on 3000 consecutive, surgically treated patients and a systematic review of the literature
CONCLUSIONS: Most iNPH patients undergo surgery in their 70s. Those aged < 60 years show slightly different symptomatology and probably present with a specific disease entity, indicating that the lower age limit for iNPH should be 60 years. iNPH patients have severe impairment preceded by a long diagnostic delay. Even though the included study designs differed, the systematic review showed that the disorder has a very low treatment incidence. The importance of diagnosing and treating iNPH is further emphasized by the fact that iNPH may account for a considerable part of all cases of dementia.PMID:35395629 | DOI:10.3171/2022.2.JNS212063
