Mastering the Learning Curve for Robotic-Assisted Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery
CONCLUSIONS: Robotic-assisted CABG can be performed safely with excellent results even during a surgeon's early experience. However, the learning curve to achieve mastery is longer than required to achieve competency with a threshold of approximately 250-500 cases.PMID:36848999 | DOI:10.1016/j.athoracsur.2023.02.045

Performance of a Machine Learning Algorithm in Predicting Outcomes of Aortic Valve Replacement.
CONCLUSIONS: The ML algorithm XGBoost demonstrated excellent calibration and modest improvements in discriminatory ability compared to existing STS models in this study of isolated SAVR. PMID: 32687831 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Early Clinical Outcomes of Hybrid Arch Frozen Elephant Trunk Repair with the Thoraflex Hybrid Graft.
CONCLUSIONS: Hybrid aortic arch and FET repair with the Thoraflex hybrid graft appears to be associated with good clinical outcomes, despite being early in the learning curve with this graft. Further investigation with this device is warranted to establish its role within the variations of hybrid arch repair. PMID: 30291835 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Transapical Aortic Valve Replacement for Severe Aortic Stenosis: Results From the Nonrandomized Continued Access Cohort of the PARTNER Trial.
CONCLUSIONS: Among the 975 patients in the NRCA-TA cohort, rates of major outcomes including death and stroke compared favorably with outcomes of PMA-TA and SAVR patients enrolled in the PARTNER trial. This trend toward improved outcomes may be attributed to improved patient selection, individual centers surmounting the procedural learning curve, and refinements in surgical technique.
