Proximal hyperdense middle cerebral artery sign is associated with increased risk of asymptomatic hemorrhagic transformation after endovascular thrombectomy: a multicenter retrospective study
ConclusionProximal HMCAS on initial NCCT was independently associated with aHT in patients who received EVT for acute MCA occlusion. Both aHT and sHT had a detrimental effect on clinical outcome.

Exome-based gene panel analysis in a cohort of acute juvenile ischemic stroke patients:relevance of NOTCH3 and GLA variants
ConclusionGenetic screening for Fabry ’s disease in cardioembolic and lacunar stroke as well as CADASIL in lacunar stroke might be beneficial in routine medical work-up of acute juvenile ischemic stroke.

Impacts of medication non-adherence to major modifiable stroke-related diseases on stroke prevention and mortality: a meta-analysis
ConclusionsNon-adherence to medications for the four stroke-related diseases contributes to the development of stroke and/or mortality in primary stroke prevention. More efforts are needed to improve patients ’ medication adherence.

Patterns of acute ischemic stroke and intracranial hemorrhage in patients with COVID-19
In this study, we sought to investigate associations between neuroimaging findings with clinical, demographic, blood and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) parameters, pre-existing conditions and the severity of acute COVID-19.Materials and methodsRetrospective multicenter data retrieval from 10 university medical centers in Germany, Switzerland and Austria between February 2020 and September 2021. We included patients with COVID-19, acute neurological symptoms and cranial imaging. We collected demographics, neurological symptoms, COVID-19 severity, results of cranial imaging, blood and CSF parameters during the hospital stay.Resul...

Pontine autosomal dominant microangiopathy with leukoencephalopathy: Col4A1 gene variants in the original family and sporadic stroke
ConclusionOur results allow an early diagnosis of PADMAL based on cranial MRI, clinical signs, and confirmatory sequencing of theCOL4A1 miRNA-29-binding site.COL4A1 miRNA-29-binding site variants do not contribute to a sizeable proportion of sporadic stroke.

Effect of transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation on post-stroke dysphagia
ConclusionThe transcutaneous auricular electrical vagus nerve stimulation is effective as a novel and noninvasive treatment strategy for patients with dysphagia after acute stroke.Trial registrationNo: kelunshen No. 63 in 2020.

RCVS: by clinicians for clinicians —a narrative review
ConclusionIn general, the outcome of reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome is very good. Vasospasm as well as thunderclap headache attacks can be fully reversible, and  >  90% of patients are functionally independent at discharge.

Association between intravenous tirofiban and intracranial hemorrhage in acute large vessel occlusion stroke: insight from the RESCUE BT randomized placebo-controlled trial
ConclusionsIn patients with acute large vessel occlusion stroke, intravenous tirofiban before EVT within 24  h of time from last known well is not associated with increased risk of SICH. Patients who are older, have more severe neurological deficits, or with cardioembolism are at higher risk of SICH with intravenous tirofiban.Trial registration numberURL:http://www.chictr.org.cn; Unique identifier: ChiCTR-INR-17014167.

Incidence, characteristics, and neuroanatomical substrates of vestibular symptoms in supratentorial stroke
This study aimed to determine the incidence, clinical features, and anatomical correlation of acute vestibular symptoms in supratentorial stroke. We performed a prospective, multicenter, observational study that had recruited patients with supratentorial stroke from the neurology clinics of referral-based four university hospitals in Korea. All patients received a constructed neuro-otological evaluations, and neuroimaging. We analyzed the incidence of acute vestibular symptoms, abnormal ocular motor and vestibular function tests, and stroke lesions. Of 1301 patients with supratentorial stroke, 48 (3.7%) presented with acut...

The optimum anticoagulation time after endovascular thrombectomy for atrial fibrillation-related large vessel occlusion stroke: a real-world study
ConclusionsIn AF-related AIS, the time of EVT to anticoagulation is an independent factor of the functional outcome and hemorrhage events after anticoagulation. The optimal initiate time of anticoagulant after EVT is 4.5  days.ClinicalTrialRegisterNCT03754738.

Timed up-and-go performance is associated with objectively measured life  space in patients 3 months after ischemic stroke: a cross-sectional observational study
ConclusionThe TUG, an easily applicable bedside test, seems to be a useful indicator for patients ’ life space 3 months poststroke and may be a clinically useful measure to document the motor rehabilitative process.
