Treatment Patterns and Outcomes of Patients Receiving Direct Oral Anticoagulants or Low Molecular Weight Heparin who Experienced Life-threatening Intracranial Hemorrhage (P5.053)
Conclusions:This study provides a real-world picture of patients receiving FXa inhibitors or LMWH, experiencing life-threatening intracranial bleeds. Despite efforts to restore hemostasis, mortality remained high and substantial healthcare resources were expended. Conclusions: Our pilot data suggest that OB/GYN, IM and FM have moderate awareness of PCP guidelines, correctly answering approximately 2/3 of questions. Teaching a Neurology Continuing Medical Education Course to Ghanaian Physician Assistants (P1.281)
Conclusions: The provision of education in the diagnosis and treatment of neurological conditions to primary care providers is one intervention that can address the limited supply of neurologists in lower income countries. Conclusions: Not all calls to neurologists regarding stroke patients required video-conference. In 23 of 26, an improvement or change in care was judged to result from the addition of video-conference capability. Hypertensive Disorders in Pregnancy and Future Risk of Stroke: A Systematic Review (P2.114)

The Impact on Radiology Utilization of Disseminating an Analysis on the Value of Neuroimaging Studies in Intracerebral Hemorrhage: The University Hospitals Case Medical Center Comprehensive Stroke Center Experience (P5.145)
CONCLUSIONS: Disseminating the findings of our prior analysis regarding the use of neuroimaging studies for patients with ICH at our institution led to a significant reduction in resource case use for CT and MRI. Neuroimaging resource utilization, fostered by the availability of sophisticated neuroimaging, EMR standard order sets, and clinical trials protocols is an important area for research on the value of our health care. Can Patient or Arterial Characteristics Guide the Choice between Carotid Angioplasty and Carotid Endarterectomy? The Carotid Revascularization Endarterectomy Versus Stenting Trial (CREST) (P01.225)
CONCLUSIONS: Beyond the previously described differential treatment efficacy by age, there were no other patient or arterial characteristic detected to identify patient subgroups that would differentially benefit from the choice of CAS versus CEA. Relation of Intracranial Stenosis and Elevated Carotid Intimal Medial Thickness in Black Caribbean Ischemic Stroke Patients (P03.187)
CONCLUSIONS: Our preliminary results suggest that increased MCA velocity is independent elevated CIMT, a biomarker for atherosclerosis, in anterior circulation ischemic stroke in CBs. History of hypercholesterolemia appears to be an important risk factor in atherosclerosis in CBs.
