Pre-Mixing tPA: Moving Past Gestalt (P2.303)
Conclusions: While pre-mixing tPA does not incur financial risk as drug manufacturers replace unused vials without cost, stroke centers remain wary of wasting the drug. We believe succinct criteria can reduce avoidable tPA waste, allowing health care providers to remain fiscally responsible while ensuring AIS patients are treated as fast as possible.Disclosure: Dr. McCarthy has nothing to disclose. Evaluating Efficacy of a Stroke Code Process in Identifying Stroke Mimics Since Its Implementation in a New Primary Stroke Center (P2.316)
Conclusions: Our findings demonstrate that the rate of stroke mimics actually increased and plateaued over time following inception of a new PSC. Hospitals looking to establish a new PSC should be vigilant in continually reevaluating their programs to ensure stroke mimic rates remain low from year to year.Disclosure: Dr. Blair has nothing to disclose. Unique CT Perfusion Imaging in a Case of HaNDL: New Insight into Pathophysiology of Acute Attacks (P4.114)
Conclusions: The pattern of global left hemispheric hypoperfusion seen in this case supports previous hypotheses of secondary oligemia induced by a hemispheric wave of cortical spreading depression (CSD). However, the right ACA territory hypoperfusion represents a phenomenon never previously reported in this field. We speculate that the secondary vasomotor changes induced by CSD in the left hemisphere, spread to the right hemisphere via the anomalous vascular supply. Such a mechanism of direct vascular propagation through vessel gap junctions has been described in animal studies. This unique case provides a valuable contri...
