P030  Antiphospholipid syndrome and giant cell arteritis: a coincidence or connection?
Conclusion In summary, this is a case of GCA and APS, treated with prednisolone, aspirin, warfarin and tocilizumab. There is increasing evidence describing the presence of antiphospholipid antibodies in patients with vasculitis. However, the role of these antibodies in GCA and the clinical significance rema ins unclear. This case reports highlights the need for physicians to consider APS in patients who have a history of GCA and subsequently develop arterial or venous embolic events.Disclosure L. Sammut: None.E. Intracerebral hemorrhage with a favorable outcome in a patient with childhood primary angiitis of the central nervous system
We present the case of a boy with cPACNS that previously suffered an ischemic stroke. At the age of 7 years and 10 months, he presented a sudden and severe headache, vomiting and reduction in consciousness level (Glasgow coma scale 7), requiring prompt tracheal intubation. Brain computed tomography demonstrated intraparenchymal hematoma in the right parieto-occipital lobe and a small focus of bleeding in the right frontal lobe, vasogenic edema, herniation of the uncus and a 10 mm deviation to the left from the midline. Childhood-onset systemic polyarteritis nodosa and systemic lupus erythematosus: an overlap syndrome?
In conclusion, we described herein a possible overlap syndrome of two autoimmune diseases, where childhood-onset systemic polyarteritis nodosa occurred five years before the childhood-onset systemic lupus erythematosus diagnosis.
