Clinical Reasoning: An unusual case of blurry vision in a young woman after ovarian induction
A 38-year-old woman presented to our emergency department with blurry vision and headache. She developed her symptoms insidiously 8 days into ovarian induction for in vitro fertilization (IVF), consisting of recombinant follicular stimulating hormone, gonadotropin, and a gonadotropin-releasing hormone antagonist. The headache was mild, constant, diffuse, nonpositional, and minimally alleviated with ibuprofen. She described binocular difficulty "focusing her vision" but denied a field cut or diplopia. Clinical Reasoning: A 50-year-old man with "elephantiasis" and headache
A 50-year-old man with a medical history of "elephantiasis" of the legs, status post left above the knee amputation with prosthetic limb, and hypothyroidism presented with 1 week of headache and nausea. The headache was continuous, with gradual worsening over the 7 days prior to admission, and he had minimal relief with ibuprofen. On the second day, he developed nausea.
