The effect of body mass index on inpatient rehabilitation outcome after stroke in an East-Asian cohort: a prospective study
CONCLUSION: Findings from this study unequivocally support the benefits of acute inpatient stroke rehabilitation. Patients in the obese BMI range tended to normalise during rehabilitation. National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale: comparison of the original versus a modified version for Singapore culture
CONCLUSION: There are cultural issues with several dysphasia objects in the original NIHSS as evidenced by high error rates, which were lowered with more culturally suitable alternatives. Simultaneous cardiocerebral infarctions: a five-year retrospective case series reviewing natural history
CONCLUSION: CCI is a rare but devastating clinical scenario, with high incidence of morbidity and mortality. Treatment strategy can impact patient outcome, and further research is warranted on the ideal acute and post-reperfusion treatments for CCI. Influence of chronic kidney disease and haemodialysis on stroke outcome
CONCLUSION: Despite significant functional and neurological improvements following rehabilitation, stroke patients with underlying CKD had higher average duration of hospital stay, more recurrent hospitalisations and poorer survival outcomes than those without underlying CKD. This could be attributed to the complications associated with CKD rather than stroke. ACT-FAST: a quality improvement project to increase the percentage of acute stroke patients receiving intravenous thrombolysis within 60 minutes of arrival at the emergency department.

Age and diabetes mellitus associated with worse outcomes after percutaneous coronary intervention in a multi-ethnic Asian dialysis patient population.

Truncal impairment after stroke: clinical correlates, outcome and impact on ambulatory and functional outcomes after rehabilitation.
CONCLUSION: Truncal impairment was common and improvements in trunk performance were seen after rehabilitation. Trunk performance was significantly correlated to stroke severity, upper and lower limb motor power, cognition and neglect. As admission trunk performance predicted discharge functional and ambulatory status, it is recommended that trunk performance be evaluated for all patients with stroke. Optimal placement of electrodes for treatment of post-stroke dysphagia by neuromuscular electrical stimulation combined with effortful swallowing.
CONCLUSION: Horizontal placement of the NMES electrodes on the suprahyoid and infrahyoid muscles for the treatment of post-stroke dysphagia by NMES combined with effortful swallowing was more effective than the horizontal and vertical placement of electrodes on the suprahyoid and infrahyoid muscles, respectively, and their vertical placement above the hyoid bone and cricoid cartilage. Serum S100 β as a predictor of severity and outcomes for mixed subtype acute ischaemic stroke.

Predictors of functional outcome in patients with stroke thrombolysis in a tertiary hospital in Malaysia.
