Hjerneslag i Norge 2015–16 – behandling og resultater. Tidsskr Nor Laegeforen. 2020 Feb 04;140(2): Authors: Varmdal T, Indredavik B, Phan A, Fjærtoft H Abstract BACKGROUND: Treatment of stroke in Norway is decentralised; patients with stroke are treated at 50 different hospitals. Veldig tidlig mobilisering ved akutt hjerneslag.
Abstract BACKGROUND: Since the first stroke units were established in the 1990s, early mobilisation has formed a key part of the acute treatment. In the context of an updating of national clinical guidelines for stroke, the Norwegian Directorate of Health commissioned the Institute of Public Health to prepare a systematic review of the efficacy and safety of very early mobilisation (within 24 hours) after stroke, compared with current practice, which is early mobilisation (within 48 hours). MATERIAL AND METHOD: We have written a systematic review based on a previous review from the Cochrane Collaboration publ...

Utredning av pasienter med akutt svimmelhet ved en nevrologisk avdeling.
Abstract BACKGROUND: Acute dizziness may have a number of causes, including cerebrovascular stroke which can present as isolated acute vestibular syndrome. It is recommended that acute episodic dizziness be assessed using positioning tests, and acute persistent dizziness with a focus on the HINTS (Head Impulse, Nystagmus, Test of Skew) battery of tests, which can distinguish cerebrovascular stroke from vestibular neuritis. We wished to identify the prevalence, diagnostic spectrum and approach to acute dizziness in a neurological department. MATERIAL AND METHOD: We undertook a retrospective review of the medic...

Does a history of cardiovascular disease or cancer affect mortality after SARS-CoV-2 infection?
Abstract BACKGROUND: Cardiovascular disease and cancer have been described as possible risk factors for COVID-19 mortality. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether a history of cardiovascular disease or cancer affects the risk of dying after a COVID-19 diagnosis in Norway. MATERIAL AND METHOD: Data were compiled from the Norwegian Surveillance System for Communicable Diseases, the Norwegian Cardiovascular Disease Registry and the Cancer Registry of Norway. Univariable and multivariable regression models were used to calculate both relative and absolute risk. RESULTS: In the first half of 20...

Pharmacy-dispensed drugs for secondary prevention after myocardial infarction.
Abstract BACKGROUND: Secondary prophylactic drugs are important for avoiding further cardiovascular events after myocardial infarction. We have examined whether patients collect these drugs from pharmacies and whether there are differences in survival between those who collect versus do not collect the drugs. MATERIAL AND METHOD: All patients <80 years registered in the Norwegian Myocardial Infarction Registry in 2013-16 were included in the study. The Norwegian Prescription Database was used to determine whether patients collected their prescriptions from pharmacies. RESULTS: During the study period,...

Tiårsprediksjon av hjerte- og karsykdom hos friske norske menn basert på NORRISK-2. Tidsskr Nor Laegeforen. 2020 Sep 08;140(12): Authors: Mirza Y, Prestgaard EE, Selmer R, Liestøl K, Grundvold I, Erikssen JE, Kjeldsen SE, Gjesdal K Abstract BACKGROUND: Norwegian guidelines for primary prevention of cardiovascular disease recommend the use of the NORRISK-2 risk model, with some additions. We wished to investigate whether NORRISK-2 could predict cardiovascular disease in healthy Norwegian men who took part in the Oslo Ischaemia Study. MATERIAL: NORRISK-2 scores were calculated for 2 014 men in ...
