Pericyte-Mediated Molecular Mechanisms Underlying Tissue Repair and Functional Recovery after Ischemic Stroke
J Atheroscler Thromb. 2023 Jun 30. doi: 10.5551/jat.RV22007. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThere are still many patients suffering from ischemic stroke and related disabilities worldwide. To develop a treatment that promotes functional recovery after acute ischemic stroke, we need to elucidate endogenous tissue repair mechanisms. The concept of a neurovascular unit (NVU) indicates the importance of a complex orchestration of cell-cell interactions and their microenvironment in the physiology and pathophysiology of various central nervous system diseases, particularly ischemic stroke. In this concept, microvascular pericyte...

JAK2 V617F Mutation and Large Cerebral Artery Disease in Patients with Myeloproliferative Neoplasms
CONCLUSIONS: This study revealed a significant association between the JAK2 V617F mutation and LCAD in patients with MPNs. This suggests that the JAK2 V617F mutation may promote cerebrovascular atherosclerosis and could be very important in determining therapeutic strategies for patients with not only JAK2 V617F-mutated MPNs but also LCAD-related stroke.PMID:37344447 | DOI:10.5551/jat.64118

Differential Impact of Clinical Factors for Predicting High Platelet Reactivity on Clinical Outcomes in Acute Myocardial Infarction Patients Treated With Clopidogrel and Prasugrel
CONCLUSIONS: Clinical factors listed in the HHD-GENE score may help stratify ischemic risks in patients with acute MI treated with clopidogrel and prasugrel, whereas risk stratification without genetic testing in patients treated with clopidogrel may be challenging.PMID:37316266 | DOI:10.5551/jat.64217

Five-Year Prognostic Value of DAPT Score in Older Patients undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention: A Large-Sample Study in the Real World
CONCLUSION: This study suggested that in older PCI patients, the DAPT score did not show predictive value for MACCE; however, it had a certain predictive value for 5-year BARC 2, 3, or 5 bleeding.PMID:37258235 | DOI:10.5551/jat.64212

Epidemiology of Stroke in a General Japanese Population: The Hisayama Study
J Atheroscler Thromb. 2023 May 30. doi: 10.5551/jat.RV22004. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe Hisayama Study is an ongoing epidemiological study of stroke, coronary artery disease (CAD), and other noncommunicable diseases in a general Japanese population established in 1961. According to the longitudinal data from the Hisayama Study, average levels of systolic blood pressure among hypertensive individuals have decreased with time since 1961. In contrast, the prevalence of metabolic risk factors such as obesity, hypercholesterolemia, and glucose intolerance has increased with time. The incidence rates of ischemic stroke in...
