Cardiovascular risk and mortality in rheumatoid arthritis compared with diabetes mellitus and the general population
Dear Editor, We read with great interest the work of L øgstrupet al. [1] studying cardiovascular risk and mortality in RA compared with diabetes mellitus (DM) and the general population. In their work, the authors longitudinally followed patients with RA and DM. They highlighted that RA is associated with an increased risk of heart failure, myocardial infarction (MI), stroke and coronary revascularization than is found in the general population, but without reaching the risk levels observed in DM patients. They pointed out that patients with incident RA have the same 10  year risk of MI compared with DM patients. Howeve...

O27  Frailty and co-morbidity in people with osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis
Conclusion Co-morbidity is associated with an increased occurrence of pre-frailty and frailty among people with OA and RA and interacts synergistically with OA and RA to increase the likelihood of pre-frailty and frailty.Disclosure M.J. Patients with rheumatoid arthritis have impaired long-term outcomes after myocardial infarction: a nationwide case-control registry study
ConclusionRA is independently associated with poorer prognosis after MI. RA duration and corticosteroid usage and dosage were independent predictors of mortality after MI in RA. Special attention is needed for improvement of outcomes after MI in this vulnerable population.

Cardiovascular risk and mortality in rheumatoid arthritis compared with diabetes mellitus and the general population
ConclusionThis study demonstrates that RA is associated with an increased risk of HF, MI, stroke and coronary revascularization than found in the GP but without reaching the risk levels observed in DM patients.

Rheumatoid arthritis-specific cardiovascular risk scores are not superior to general risk scores: a validation analysis of patients from seven countries
Conclusion. The QRISK2, EULAR multiplier and ERS-RA algorithms did not predict CVD risk more accurately in patients with RA than CVD risk calculators developed for the general population.

Most patients who reach disease remission following anti-TNF therapy continue to report fatigue: results from the British Society for Rheumatology Biologics Register for Rheumatoid Arthritis
Conclusion. Despite achieving clinical remission, many RA patients do not achieve complete remission of their fatigue. Therefore, despite being important in overall disease control, reductions in disease activity are not always sufficient to ameliorate fatigue, so other symptom-specific management approaches must be considered for those for whom fatigue does not resolve.

Prevalence and risk factors of arthritis in a middle-aged and older Chinese population: the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study
Conclusion. Middle-aged and older Chinese adults had a high prevalence of arthritis. Cardiovascular disease is a novel risk factor for arthritis in this population.
