Risk Factors for Dysphagia and the Impact on Outcome After Spontaneous Subarachnoid Hemorrhage
ConclusionsDysphagia is a frequent complication of non-traumatic SAH and associated with poor functional outcome, infectious complications, and prolonged stay in the intensive care unit. Early identification of high-risk patients is needed to timely stratify individual patients for dysphagia treatment.

Vitamin K Antagonist (Phenprocoumon) and Subarachnoid Hemorrhage: A Single-Center, Matched-Pair Analysis
ConclusionPatients with phenprocoumon treatment at the time of SAH are significantly older, admission status is worse, and 30-day mortality rates are significantly higher compared to patients without anticoagulant treatment. However, outcome at 6  months did not differ to the matched-pair control group but seems to be strongly associated with the underlying cardiovascular disease. Treatment of these patients is challenging and should be performed on an interdisciplinary base in each individual case. Careful decision-making regarding discont inuation and bridging of anticoagulation and close observation is mandatory.

Cerebellar Hippocampal and Basal Nuclei Transient Edema with Restricted diffusion (CHANTER) Syndrome
ConclusionsWe present findings of a potentially novel syndrome involving a distinct pattern of cerebellar and hippocampal restricted diffusion, with imaging and clinical characteristics distinct from ischemic stroke, hypoxic injury, and known toxidromes and leukoencephalopathies. Given the potential for favorable outcome despite early obstructive hydrocephalus, early identification and treatment of this syndrome are critical.

Acute Posterior Cranial Fossa Hemorrhage —Is Surgical Decompression Better than Expectant Medical Management?
ConclusionsSDC following PCFH was associated with a reduction in mortality compared to expectant MT with or without EVD insertion. A high-quality multicenter randomized control trial is required to evaluate the superiority of SDC for PCFH.

Mechanical Ventilation for Acute Stroke: A Multi-state Population-Based Study
Conclusions In this large population-based sample, over half of mechanically ventilated stroke patients died in the hospital despite the fact that younger patients were more likely to receive mechanical ventilation. Future studies are indicated to elucidate mechanical ventilation strategies to optimize long-term outcomes after severe stroke.
