Cerebral stroke mimics associated with spinal vascular disease: two case reports
We report two cases of cerebral stroke mimics to attract the attention of clinicians, especially emergency room doctors. In one case, a patient with spontaneous spinal epidural hematoma (SSEH) exhibited lower-right limb numbness and weakness. In the other, a patient with spinal cord infarction (SCI) had numbness and weakness of the lower-left limb. Both cases were misdiagnosed as cerebral strokes in the emergency room. One of the patients underwent hematoma removal surgery, and the other received medical treatment for spinal cord infarction. Patients' symptoms improved, but the sequelae remained. Single-limb numbness and w...

Recombinant tissue-type plasminogen activator (rt-PA) effectively restores neurological function and improves prognosis in acute ischemic stroke
CONCLUSION: Compared with conventional pharmacological regimens, additional rt-PA intravenous thrombolytic therapy improves the clinical outcome of patients with acute ischemic stroke, promotes neurological recovery, and enhances patient prognosis without increasing the risk of patient-related adverse events.PMID:37303683 | PMC:PMC10251022

A prognostic model for interventional thrombectomy in patients with acute ischemic stroke based on a BP neural network, random forest model and decision tree model
CONCLUSION: The three prediction models have shown good diagnostic efficacy and stability in the preliminary study of the prognosis of AIS mediated thrombectomy, which has important guiding significance for clinical prognosis assessment and selection of appropriate surgical population. The prediction model can be selected according to the actual situation of patients to provide more efficient guidance for clinicians.PMID:37303675 | PMC:PMC10250994

Association between HMGB1 genetic variants and ischemic stroke susceptibility, onset age, and recurrence risk among Chinese Han individuals
CONCLUSIONS: Our study provided evidence for the association between HMGB1 polymorphisms and ischemic stroke susceptibility and recurrence, indicating that HMGB1 gene variants may be potential markers for first and secondary stroke prevention.PMID:37303653 | PMC:PMC10251027
