Systematic evaluation of the safety and therapeutic effects of para-aortic lymphadenectomy for advanced gastric cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Prophylactic D2+ surgery is not recommended, since D2+ surgery is associated with an increased rate of post-operative complications and does not improve the long-term survival rate of patients with advanced gastric cancer. However, D2+ surgery (especially D2+PAND) has certain survival advantages for specific patients, and D2+PAND surgery combined with chemotherapy may potentially improve long-term survival rate.PMID:37318495 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202306_32639

Lateral retraction could achieve better early postoperative knee function than patellar eversion in total knee arthroplasty: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Existing evidence suggested that using LR in TKA improved early postoperative knee function. Similar clinical and radiographic outcomes were obtained 1 year after the procedures were performed. Based on these findings, we recommended the use of LR in TKA. However, studies with large sample sizes are needed to validate these findings.PMID:37318480 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202306_32623

Ischemic pressure vs. post-isometric relaxation for treatment of rhomboid latent myofascial trigger point: a systemic review
CONCLUSIONS: Conservative and noninvasive treatments can only raise pain tolerance. Compared to standard treatment, ischemia pressure and post-isometric relaxation reduced shoulder and neck pain and PPT discomfort. This study suggests that ischemia compression may be more effective than post-isometric relaxation for treating rhomboid latent myofascial trigger points (MTP). Future progress in the field will depend on multi-subject RCTs.PMID:37318477 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202306_32620

Therapeutic significance of insoles in patients with knee osteoarthritis
CONCLUSIONS: Lateral wedge insoles with arch support significantly improved pain and physical function in patients with KOA. Other insoles did not provide significant positive outcomes regarding pain reduction or joint deterioration in KOA patients.PMID:37318476 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202306_32619

Mechanisms underlying cognitive impairment induced by prenatal cannabinoid exposure: a literature review
Eur Rev Med Pharmacol Sci. 2023 Jun;27(11):4960-4975. doi: 10.26355/eurrev_202306_32613.ABSTRACTHuman and animal studies have revealed that prenatal cannabinoid exposure alters fetal brain development and leads to persistent impairment in the cognitive function of offspring. However, the mechanism underlying the effect of prenatal cannabinoid exposure on cognitive function in offspring is still not fully understood. Therefore, the goal of this literature review is to discuss the published studies on the mechanisms underlying the effects of prenatal cannabinoid exposure on cognitive impairment. The articles used in this pre...

Comparison of laparoscopic common bile duct exploration and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography combined with laparoscopic cholecystectomy for patients with gallbladder and common bile duct stones a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
CONCLUSIONS: Both LC+LCBDE and LC+ERCP are safe, effective, and minimal-invasive treatments for concomitant gallbladder and CBD stones. LC-LCBDE was associated with comparable effects compared with LC+ERCP in terms of surgical success rate, stone clearance rate, retained stones rate, operation time, and total morbidity. At the same time, LC-LCBDE had a higher rate of bile leakage and a lower rate of postoperative pancreatitis, cholangitis, and hemorrhage.PMID:37259749 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202305_32477

Impact of sarcopenia and low muscle attenuation on outcomes of ovarian cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Both low skeletal muscle mass and low muscle quality showed significant association with poor long-term survival and an increased risk of complications. However, they do not have a significant association with the risk of recurrence and progression-free survival. There is a need for more prospective studies to confirm these associations.PMID:37259736 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202305_32461

SLC7A11-associated ferroptosis in acute injury diseases: mechanisms and strategies
Eur Rev Med Pharmacol Sci. 2023 May;27(10):4386-4398. doi: 10.26355/eurrev_202305_32444.ABSTRACTFerroptosis is a kind of iron-dependent renewal programmed death. Its main mechanism is to catalyze the unsaturated fatty acids highly expressed on the cell membrane under the effect of divalent iron, to produce lipid peroxidation, thus inducing cell death. SLC7A11 is a known iron death-related factor. It has been proved that iron death is involved in the occurrence and development of acute diseases, but the specific mechanism is unknown. The purpose of this review is to highlight the regulatory properties of SLC7A11 and gain a ...
