Considering skin-to-muscle depth for successful intramuscular injections in an increasingly obese population
CONCLUSIONS: There should be an assessment of obesity status before selecting needle length for IM injections in both genders. Needles longer than the standard 37 mm are recommended for all females, whatever their obesity status, for any gluteal site. Injections into gluteal sites should be avoided in females who are obese. Deltoid injections are more likely to achieve muscle penetration in both genders, and in patients who are overweight or obese. Further research is required.PMID:37410678 | DOI:10.12968/bjon.2023.32.13.628

Benefits and drawbacks of CT scan as a triple rule-out exam in acute chest pain to exclude acute coronary syndrome, pulmonary embolism and aortic dissection
Ann Cardiol Angeiol (Paris). 2023 Sep 11;72(5):101641. doi: 10.1016/j.ancard.2023.101641. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTChest pain is one of the major causes for admission in the Emergency Room in most countries and one of the principal reasons for urgent consultation with a cardiologist or a general practitioner. After clinical examination and initial biological measurements, substantial patients require further explorations. CT scan allows the search for pulmonary embolism in the early stage of pulmonary arteries iodine contrast exploration. During the same exam at the systemic arterial phase, the search for aortic disse...

Three‐dimensional cephalometric analysis in orthodontics: a systematic review
ConclusionsLimited evidence for the diagnostic efficacy of 3D cephalometry was found. Only 6 studies met the criteria for a moderate level of evidence. Accordingly, this systematic review reveals that there is still need for methodologically standardized studies on 3D cephalometric analysis.

The role of positron emission tomography/computed tomography imaging with radiolabeled choline analogues in prostate cancer.
CONCLUSIONS: according to available data, radiolabeled choline analogues plays an important role in the management of prostate cancer, especially in biochemical relapse because technique accuracy is properly correlated with prostate-specific antigen values and kinetics. Although is an emerging diagnostic technique useful in treatment planning of prostate cancer, final recommendations have not been submitted. PMID: 24548475 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Developing an evidence-based protocol to prevent extravasation of intravenous computerized tomography contrast media.
Conclusion: The protocol with 9 recommendations was developed based on a structured search of the literature. Further research to apply protocol to clinical setting is needed. International Journal of Evidence-Based Healthcare (C) 2014 The Joanna Briggs Institute

Cone beam computed tomography and periapical lesions: a systematic review analyzing studies on diagnostic efficacy by a hierarchical model
ConclusionFrom the assessed studies, it can be concluded, that although there is a tendency for a higher accuracy for periapical lesion detection using CBCT compared to two‐dimensional imaging methods, no studies have been conducted that justify the standard use of CBCT in diagnosing periapical lesions. In addition, it should be considered that, at the present time, the efficacy of CBCT as the diagnostic imaging method for periapical lesions has been assessed merely at low diagnostic efficacy levels. This article is protected by copyright.
