Discovery of first novel sigma/HDACi dual-ligands with a potent in vitro antiproliferative activity
Bioorg Chem. 2023 Aug 23;140:106794. doi: 10.1016/j.bioorg.2023.106794. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTDesigning and discovering compounds for dual-target inhibitors is challenging to synthesize new, safer, and more efficient drugs than single-target drugs, especially to treat multifactorial diseases such as cancer. The simultaneous regulation of multiple targets might represent an alternative synthetic approach to optimize patient compliance and tolerance, minimizing the risk of target-based drug resistance due to the modulation of a few targets. To this end, we conceived for the first time the design and synthesis of dual...

Elemental exchange: Bioisosteric replacement of phosphorus by boron in drug design
Eur J Med Chem. 2023 Aug 25;260:115761. doi: 10.1016/j.ejmech.2023.115761. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTContinuous efforts are being directed toward the employment of boron in drug design due to its advantages and unique characteristics including a plethora of target engagement modes, lower metabolism, and synthetic accessibility, among others. Phosphates are components of multiple drug molecules as well as clinical candidates, since they play a vital role in various biochemical functions, being components of nucleotides, energy currency- ATP as well as several enzyme cofactors. This review discusses the unique chemistry ...

Real-time monitoring ATP variation in human cancer organoids for a long term by DNA-based nanosensor
This study provides a feasible solution to this dilemma by developing a DNA-based ATP nanosensor to realize real-time ATP monitoring in organoids for a long term. The employment of DNA materials ensures high biocompatibility and low cytotoxicity, which are crucial for fragile organoids; The usage of tetrahedral DNA framework ensures cell permeability and intracellular ATP detection; The introduction of ATP-mediated molecular replacement ensures the high sensitivity and selectivity of ATP recognition. These features result in the first successful attempt on real-time monitoring ATP in organoids for up to 26 days and gaining...

Reduced Tiara-like Palladium Complex for Suzuki Cross Coupling Reactions
This study describes the development of a very active and reusable palladium-based catalyst on alumina (Pd8/Al2O3) for Suzuki cross coupling reactions. An octanuclear tiara-like palladium complex was selected as active phase precursor to give isolated Pd-clusters of ca. 1 nm in size on Al2O3. The catalyst was thoroughly characterised by several complementary techniques to assess its structural and chemical nature. The high specific activity of the catalyst has allowed to carry out the cross-coupling reaction in 30 minutes using only 0.12 mol% of Pd loading under very mild and green reaction conditions. Screening of various...

Dual promoted ciprofloxacin degradation by Fe < sup > 0 < /sup > /PS system with ascorbic acid and pre-magnetization
Chemosphere. 2023 Jun 16:139202. doi: 10.1016/j.chemosphere.2023.139202. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAs a widely used and hard-to-degrade pharmaceuticals and personal care product (PPCP), ciprofloxacin (CIP) was frequently found in water environment and the detected concentration was gradually increased. Although zero-valent iron (ZVI) has been shown to be effective in destroying refractory organic pollutants, the practical application and sustained catalytic performance is not satisfactory. Herein, introduction of ascorbic acid (AA) and employment of pre-magnetized Fe0 was achieved to maintain a high-concentration of Fe...
