NSCLC patients with a changing T grade after operation may represent a special subset of tumor staging
CONCLUSIONS: For NSCLC patients whose preoperative imaging evaluation was stage 1b (tumor diameter more than 3 cm, no main bronchus, pleura, no atelectasis), the presence of lung tissue with smaller tumor diameter and/or higher air content may indicate that the postoperative pathological staging may be changed to stage 1a (tumor diameter less than 3 cm). These patients had better survival prognosis than those who did not undergo TNM stage change and were diagnosed with stage 1b non-small cell lung cancer before and after surgery.PMID:37258719 | DOI:10.1007/s00432-023-04925-6

Periprosthetic Tibial Plateau Fractures After Unicompartmental Knee Arthroplasty Are Successfully Treated With Open Reduction and Internal Fixation
Orthopedics. 2022 Apr 29:1-6. doi: 10.3928/01477447-20220425-04. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPeriprosthetic tibial fractures after unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) are rare but devastating events. Given the relative infrequency of these injuries, treatment strategies are not well defined. The goal of this retrospective case series is to report the findings for a series of patients who underwent open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) of periprosthetic fracture after UKA, including radiographic alignment, Knee Society Score (KSS), and failure rate. Patients were identified by the International Classification o...

Does Surgery Improve Healing After Isolated Diaphyseal Ulna Fractures?
CONCLUSIONS: The healing characteristics of isolated ulnar shaft fractures do not appear to differ substantially between surgical and nonsurgical treatment. However, nearly 20% of the patients treated nonsurgically may require eventual ORIF. Distal-third fractures may be at a higher risk of conversion to ORIF, and middle-third fractures may be at a higher risk of nonunion.TYPE OF STUDY/LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Therapeutic IV.PMID:35469693 | DOI:10.1016/j.jhsa.2022.02.009
