Neuroprotective Effect of Dexmedetomidine on Cerebral Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury in Rats
CONCLUSION: Dexmedetomidine has a dose-dependent protective effect on cerebral ischemic injury in rats. The neuroprotective effects of dexmedetomidine are achieved, in part, by reducing the oxidative stress response, inhibiting glial overactivation, and inhibiting expression levels of apoptosis-related proteins.PMID:37235497

Billions With Nutrition Deficiency!?
Almost no one gets enough selenium. Officially, at least a billion — with a B — people have a selenium deficiency.1 But I suspect the numbers are much higher than that. You can’t get enough selenium from food alone anymore. That’s true even if you eat a healthy, varied diet. And you can thank Big Agra for that. Evaluation on the Efficacy and Safety of Panax Notoginseng Saponins in the Treatment of Stroke among Elderly People: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of 206 Randomized Controlled Trials
CONCLUSION: Single PNS intervention or PNS combined with WM/TAU significantly improves the neurological status, the overall clinical efficacy and daily living activities of elderly stroke patients. However, more multicenter RCT research with high quality is required in the future to verify the results in this study. The trial registration number: Inplasy protocol 202330042. doi:10.37766/inplasy2023.3.0042.PMID:37181679 | PMC:PMC10175014 | DOI:10.1155/2023/4312489

Amburana cearensis seed extract stimulates astrocyte glutamate homeostatic mechanisms in hippocampal brain slices and protects oligodendrocytes against ischemia
Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability worldwide. A major factor in brain damage following ischemia is excitotoxicity caused by elevated levels of the neurotransmitter glutamate. In the brain, gluta...

Ischemic Stroke and Dysbiosis of Gut Microbiota: Changes to LPS Levels and Effects on Functional Outcomes
CONCLUSIONS: Dysbiosis of gut microbiota and LPS and inflammatory-factor levels can increase AIS patients' subsequent risks for poor functional outcomes, indicating that the dysbiosis and levels could be potential prognostic markers and therapeutic targets for stroke.PMID:37083652
