Perioperative hemodynamic optimization in laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy using stroke volume variation to reduce postoperative nausea and vomiting
CONCLUSION: No significant benefit is found in reducing PONV by using GDFT in patients undergoing LSG, although GDFT effectively avoids excessive volume of fluid administration. PONV incidence appears to be higher with intraoperative colloid infusion for GDFT during LSG. Further investigation is warranted to elucidate the mechanism underlying PONV in postoperative LSG.PMID:34247980 | DOI:10.1016/j.soard.2021.06.004

How Virtual Reality Is Expanding Health Care
Clinicians can help patients recover from strokes while they’re anywhere in the world—even states or countries far away from each other—by using a combination of robotics and virtual-reality devices. It’s happening at Georgia Institute of Technology, where Nick Housley runs the Sensorimotor Integration Lab. There, patients undergoing neurorehabilitation, including those recovering from a stroke, are outfitted with robotic devices called Motus, which are strapped to their arms and legs. The goal: to speed up recovery and assist with rehabilitation exercises. Patients and practitioners using the syste...

Effects of pneumoperitoneum on hemodynamics evaluated by continuous noninvasive arterial pressure monitoring. A single-center observational study
CONCLUSIONS: In patients undergoing elective cholecystectomy, CNAP monitoring showed significant hemodynamic changes that would have been underappreciated with standard non-invasive monitoring with increase in arterial elastance under stable preload conditions. Whether this effect is due to unknown cardiovascular diseases facilitating ventriculo-arterial decoupling remains to be determined.KEY WORDS: Arterial Elastance, Cardiac Outp, Pneumoperitoneum, Stroke Volume, Stroke Volume Variation.PMID:37530058
