Fat chance: Scientists unexpectedly discover stress-resistant stem cells in adipose tissue

Brain rewires itself after damage or injury, life scientists discover

Boosting 'cellular garbage disposal' can delay the aging process, UCLA biologists report
UCLA life scientists have identified a gene previously implicated in Parkinson's disease that can delay the onset of aging and extend the healthy life span of fruit flies. UCLA, partners get $11M to develop stroke-prevention programs for minority populations

UCLA researchers have used a brain-imaging tool and stroke risk assessment to identify signs of cognitive decline early on in individuals who don't yet show symptoms of dementia.   The connection between stroke risk and cognitive decline has been well established by previous research. UCLA-led study finds devices no better than meds in recovery from clot-caused strokes
When someone has a stroke, time equals brain. The longer a stroke is left untreated, the more brain tissue is lost.
