Hypertensive Retinopathy and the Risk of Hemorrhagic Stroke
CONCLUSION: Hypertensive retinopathy screening could be used as an indicator in hypertensive patient, to evaluate the risk of developing hypertensive HS in the future.PMID:34237912 | DOI:10.3340/jkns.2020.0285

The Protective Effects of Statins Towards Vessel Wall Injury Caused by a Stent Retrieving Mechanical Thrombectomy Device : A Histological Analysis of the Rabbit Carotid Artery Model
CONCLUSION: We presented that statin administration before and after MT exerted protective effects towards vessel wall injury. The efficacy of statins was greater post-administration than pre-administration. Thus, statin administration in routine prescriptions in the peri-procedural period is strongly advised.PMID:33985322 | DOI:10.3340/jkns.2020.0303

Impact of Off-Hour Hospital Presentation on Mortality in Different Subtypes of Acute Stroke in Korea : National Emergency Department Information System Data.
Conclusion: This study indicates that off-hour hospital presentation may lead to poor short-term morbidity and mortality in patients with IS, but not in patients with ICH and SAH in Korea. Excessive death seems to be ascribed to old age or the higher severity of medical conditions apart from that of stroke during off hours. PMID: 33267532 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Association between Histone Deacetylase 9 Gene Polymorphism and Stroke in Chinese Han Population.
Conclusion: An association between rs723296 and the risk of IS was found in the Chinese Han population in Dali region. No significant association was found between rs1060499865, rs957960 and IS in the Chinese Han population in Dali region. PMID: 33227180 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Can Transradial Mechanical Thrombectomy Be an Alternative in Case of Impossible Transfemoral Approach for Mechanical Thrombectomy? A Single Center's Experience.
Conclusion: Although rare, failure of TFA has been known to occur during MT for AIS. Our results demonstrate that TRA may be an alternative option for AIS intervention for select patients with subsequent timely revascularization. However, the incidence of distal thrombus migration was high, and the first puncture to reperfusion time was prolonged because of the time taken for the crossover to TRA after failure of TFA. This study provides some evidence that the TRA may be a viable alternative option to the TFA for MT of AIS. PMID: 33207855 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Endovascular Approach in Patients with Acute Complete Occlusion Due to Middle Cerebral Artery Dissection.
Conclusion: An intimal flap at the proximal portion of an occluded MCA can suggest the possibility of MCA dissection. Contrast aspiration thrombectomy without microcatheter passage can reduce the risk of false lumen rupture in cases of MCA dissection. PMID: 33105537 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Influence of Triggering Events on the Occurrence of Spontaneous Intracranial Hemorrhage : Comparison of Non-Lesional Spontaneous Intraparenchymal Hemorrhage and Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage.
CONCLUSION: Specific physical activity dose no affect the incidence of nIPH and aSAH. The relationship between the occurrence of intracranial hemorrhage and triggering events is higher in aSAH than nIPH. PMID: 32883056 [PubMed]

Covered Stenting Is an Effective Option for Traumatic Carotid Pseudoaneurysm with Promising Long-Term Outcome.
Conclusion: Satisfactory procedural and long-term outcomes were obtained, suggesting that covered stenting is an effective option for traumatic carotid pseudoaneurysm. PMID: 32272508 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

The Correlation between E-Selectin S128R Gene Polymorphism and Ischemic Stroke in Chinese Population : A Meta-Analysis.
Authors: Yang X, Ma R, Zhang Y, Wang G Abstract To perform a systematic review of the data collected from case-control studies conducted earlier to investigate the correlation between E-selectin S128R polymorphism and ischemic stroke (IS) risk among the Chinese population. The PubMed, Web of Science, Chinese biomedical literature database (CBM), Chinese databases China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), WanfangData knowledge service platform (Wanfang Data), and information resource integration service platform (VIP) Databases were searched to retrieve case-control studies on the correlation between E-selecti...
