Cataract Surgery —Indications, Techniques, and Intraocular Lens Selection
CONCLUSION: In Germany, cataract surgery is usually performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia. Artificial lenses with various additional functions are available nowadays; the choice of lens depends on the needs of the individual patient. Treatment Options After a Diagnosis of Early Miscarriage: Expectant, Medical, and Surgical
CONCLUSION: If there is no acute indication for the surgical treatment of an early miscarriage, the patient can choose among three treatment options. Expectant and medical treatment can be provided on an outpatient basis. Current Approaches to Epistaxis Treatment in Primary and Secondary Care.
CONCLUSION: The treatment of severe or recurrent epistaxis requires the interdisciplinary collaboration of the primary care physician, the emergency physician, the practice-based otolaryngologist, and the hospital otolaryngology service. Obstructive Sleep Apnea-a Perioperative Risk Factor.
CONCLUSION: OSA patients need care by specialists from multiple disciplines, including anesthesiologists with experience in recognizing OSA, securing the airway of OSA patients, and managing them postoperatively. No randomized trials have yet compared the modalities of general anesthesia for OSA patients with respect to postoperative complications or phases of apnea or hypopnea. Chronic Abdominal Wall Pain.
CONCLUSION: Chronic abdominal wall pain is easily diagnosed on physical examination and can often be rapidly treated. Any physician treating patients with abdominal pain should be aware of this condition. Further comparative treatment trials will be needed before a validated treatment algorithm can be established.
