The Frequency and Timing of Recurrent Stroke.
CONCLUSION: Patients with acute stroke should be treated in a specialized center whenever possible. After hospital discharge, stroke patients should be followed up at short intervals and any risk factors for stroke should be treated. PMID: 31711561 [PubMed - in process]

Juvenile Stroke.
CONCLUSION: The high rates of cryptogenic stroke and ESUS among patients with juvenile stroke indicate that uncertainties remain in the diagnosis and treatment of this entity. The identification of rare causes of juvenile stroke requires a major diagnostic effort. Which diagnostic tests are useful or necessary in which patients is a matter that is currently decided on an individual basis. This is true, above all, of the indication for long-term cardiac monitoring. PMID: 28835326 [PubMed - in process]

Aircraft Noise and the Risk of Stroke.
CONCLUSION: The present meta-analysis indicates that aircraft noise increases the risk of stroke, even if the overall finding just fails to reach statistical significance. The differing measures of exposure in the included studies, the lack of differentiation be- tween ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, and the lack of consideration of maximum noise levels are all factors that may have led to a marked underestimation of the risk of stroke. Quality Assurance Measures and Mortality After Stroke –a Retrospective Cohort Study
CONCLUSION: Quality assurance measures are associated with lower mortality risk after stroke. The concentration of care in specially qualified institutions is associated with stronger effects than eQA alone.PMID:34730084 | DOI:10.3238/arztebl.m2021.0339

Air quality, stroke, and coronary events: results of the Heinz Nixdorf Recall Study from the Ruhr Region.
CONCLUSION: Long-term exposure to fine-particle dust is associated with a higher risk of stroke, regardless of the subject's exposure to noise at his or her home address. The results for coronary events are less clear, but still suggest increased risk. PMID: 25838021 [PubMed - in process]

Mechanical Thrombectomy in Stroke.
CONCLUSION: MT can only be used to treat the occlusion of major cerebral arteries. In appropriate patients, it expands the spectrum of treatment options for stroke. Long-term data are not yet available. PMID: 26754120 [PubMed - in process]

Regional Deprivation, Stroke Incidence, and Stroke Care-An Analysis of Billing and Quality Assurance Data From the German State of Rhineland-Palatinate
CONCLUSION: These findings document a relationship between regional deprivation and the occurrence of acute ischemic stroke. Poorer GIMD 2010 scores were associated with worse care outcomes in a number of variables, but the absolute differences were small.PMID:33663687 | DOI:10.3238/arztebl.m2021.0149
