Checkpoint Inhibitors.
CONCLUSION: The complex management of checkpoint-inhibitor-induced side effects should be coordinated in experienced centers. The creation of an interdisciplinary "tox team" with designated experts for organ-specific side effects has proven useful. Prospective registry studies based on structured documentation of side effects in routine clinical practice are currently lacking and urgently needed. PMID: 30940340 [PubMed - in process]

Medicine in the Penal System.
CONCLUSION: An analysis of medical prescribing data reveals deficiencies in the provision of HCV treatment to all affected persons and in the provision of substitution treatment to persons with opiate dependency. In view of the known risks associated with imprisonment, greater emphasis should be placed on the provision of treatment for infectious diseases, substance dependencies, and mental illness, both in prison and in outpatient care after release. Drug Hypersensitivity.
CONCLUSION: Careful, structured diagnostics in case of suspected hypersensitivity together with adequate documentation (allergy passport) is necessary in order to avoid incidents in patients receiving subsequent treatment. Consistent use of existing resources (diagnostics and documentation) can help to avoid hypersensitivity reactions or to rapidly recognize and treat them, respectively. Drug Treatment for Chronic Hepatitis C Infection and Cancer Risk.
CONCLUSION: Before DAA therapy is initiated in a patient who has cirrhosis or has undergone treatment for HCC with curative intent, a de novo or recurrent HCC should be meticulously excluded. Even after SVR, these patients still need intensive follow-up and surveillance. PMID: 28927498 [PubMed - in process]

Treatment Options in Hepatitis C.
CONCLUSION: All patients with hepatitis C, whatever their disease stage, can derive a sustained eradication of HCV from a combination of drugs with direct antiviral activity. Viral eradication is associated with a better quality of life and with lower morbidity and mortality. PMID: 28143635 [PubMed - in process]

The Presentation, Diagnosis, and Treatment of Sexually Transmitted Infections.
CONCLUSION: Sexually transmitted infections are common around the world, and any such infection increases the patient's risk of contracting other types of sexually transmitted infection. Molecular genetic diagnostic techniques should be made widely available. PMID: 26931526 [PubMed - in process]
