Off pump hybrid extra-anatomic techniques for aortic arch repair-own experience.
Conclusions: Hybrid procedures on the aortic arch that comprise surgical and endovascular interventions has become an attractive and safe therapeutic option with acceptable mortality and morbidity rate. They may be considered as a method of choice in treatment of the elderly and high-risk patients.

Percutaneous closure of patent foramen ovale under transthoracic echocardiography guidance-midterm results.
Conclusions: In this single center study of mostly lean patients, percutaneous closure of PFO under TTE guidance as the only imaging tool appeared effective at midterm follow-up, while avoiding radiation exposure, endotracheal intubation and contrast agent use.

Despite advances in surgical technique, lung transplantation is associated with worse survival when compared with other solid organ transplantations. Graft dysfunction and infection are the leading causes of mortality in the first 30 days following transplantation. Multimodality cardiac computed tomography angiography and magnetic resonance with clinical-grade scanners provide robust assessment of cardiac morphology and function in rabbits.
Conclusions: Multimodality non-invasive assessment of cardiac function and aortic hemodynamics is feasible and robust in rabbits using clinical-grade and MR and CT scanners. These imaging modalities could improve serial cardiac assessment for disease monitoring in preclinical settings.

Early surgical myocardial revascularization in non-ST-segment elevation acute coronary syndrome.
Conclusions: Early revascularized patients showed a higher level of illness. However, results of early CABG were comparable to those following delayed revascularization. Moreover, EuroSCORE II was determined as independent risk factors for mortality.

Minimally invasive surgery for left ventricular assist device implantation is safe and associated with a decreased risk of right ventricular failure.
Conclusions: LVAD implantation by thoracotomy significantly reduced the risk of postoperative RVF. This surgical approach should, therefore, be favored.

Aortic and mitral valve surgery for infective endocarditis with reconstruction of the intervalvular fibrous body: an analysis of clinical outcomes.
Conclusions: The double-valve replacement and AMC reconstruction (the Commando procedure) is an effective technique in complex heart valve disease. The short- and mid-term results with this technique are optimal, with a very low in-hospital mortality and nearly 100% of long-term survival during follow-up.

Quantifying the learning curve of emergent total arch replacement in acute type A aortic dissection.
Conclusions: Although emergent total arch replacement for acute type A dissection is a complex scenario, surgeons well-trained in adult cardiac surgery are able to achieve acceptable results in their start-up period.

Clinical features and surgical outcomes of type A intramural hematoma.
Conclusions: Our strategy had got low mortality and excellent mid-term survival in patients with type A IMH. Therefore, our strategy was suitable for the surgical repair of type A IMH in Chinese population.

Association of early elevated cardiac troponin I concentration and longitudinal change after off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting and adverse events: a prospective cohort study.
Conclusions: Longitudinal change in cTnI levels within 24 hours and early cTnI concentrations, even less than 1 hour after CABG, are associated with adverse events. These data will be useful in identifying patients at an increased risk of complications.

Use of durable left ventricular assist devices for high-risk patients: Korean experience before insurance coverage.
Conclusions: All patients who received LVADs before insurance coverage had contraindications for HT. The overall outcomes were comparable with those reported in the international registry.
