Risk factors for postoperative sepsis-induced cardiomyopathy in patients undergoing general thoracic surgery: a single center experience
CONCLUSIONS: It is vital to improve the diagnosis and standard management of SICM. A combined strategy comprising early detection of suspected infection, adequate use of antibiotics, close monitoring, effective drainage, and supportive care may improve the outcomes of patients with postoperative SICM.PMID:34012595 | PMC:PMC8107539 | DOI:10.21037/jtd-21-492

Outcomes related to anticoagulation management for mechanical valve replacements
CONCLUSIONS: Taking into account relevant comorbidities and valve type, patients with a larger proportion of non-therapeutic INRs during the first post-operative year demonstrated no difference in longitudinal clinical outcomes. Further research into more standardized INR monitoring and potentially expanded INR target ranges for patients undergoing mechanical valve replacement is warranted.PMID:34164179 | PMC:PMC8182532 | DOI:10.21037/jtd-20-2562
