Cerebral Microbleeds and Chronic Kidney Disease in Acute Ischemic Stroke Patients with Atrial Fibrillation
Background: Cerebral microbleeds (CMBs) are associated with the risk of intracerebral hemorrhage in stroke patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). We investigated the association between CMBs and chronic kidney disease (CKD) in patients with acute ischemic stroke and AF. Methods: We retrospectively examined consecutive patients with acute ischemic stroke and AF who underwent brain gradient-echo T2*-weighted magnetic resonance imaging. The number and distribution (lobar, deep or infratentorial, and mixed) of CMBs were assessed.

Racial-Ethnic Differences in Lacunar Infarction in a Multiethnic Stroke Population
This study examined racial-ethnic differences in the clinical presentation and imaging findings of a racially-ethnically diverse population with acute LIs. Patients with acute LIs were identified over a 3-year period. Baseline clinical characteristics, vascular risk factors, and magnetic resonance imaging findings were analyzed. Comparisons were made between African Americans, Caribbean blacks, Caribbean Hispanics, and non-Hispanic whites. Comparison of CT and DWI Findings in Ischemic Stroke Patients within 3 Hours of Onset
This study compared the detection rate of ischemic lesions within 3 hours of onset by computed tomography (CT) and diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DWI). Clinical Use of Computed Tomographic Perfusion for the Diagnosis and Prediction of Lesion Growth in Acute Ischemic Stroke
Conclusions: In real-world use, acute imaging with CTP did not predict stroke or DWI lesions with sufficient accuracy. Our findings argue against the use of CTP for screening AIS patients until real-world implementations match the accuracy reported from specialized research centers.

A Systemized Stroke Code Significantly Reduced Time Intervals for using Intravenous Tissue Plasminogen Activator under Magnetic Resonance Imaging Screening
A stroke code can shorten time intervals until intravenous tissue plasminogen activator (IV t-PA) treatment in acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Little is known about the clinical character of stroke patients with metabolic syndrome (MetS) in Chinese population. A Case of Recurrent Ischemic Stroke Involving Subacute, Progressive Intracranial Cerebral Arterial Sclerosis Prior to Diagnosis with -mutated Polycythemia Vera
A 58-year-old man presenting with no vascular risk factors visited our hospital with right hemiparesis and total aphasia. Diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging of the brain showed multiple hyperintensities in watershed distributions in the left hemisphere. Magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) revealed stenosis of the middle cerebral artery, despite normal MRA findings 2 months prior. One year after the first stroke, the patient experienced a recurrent ischemic stroke involving the left anterior choroidal artery, pulmonary embolism, and deep venous thrombosis.
