Percutaneous Transluminal Angioplasty Improved Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome due to Renovascular Hypertension
A 51-year-old man was admitted to our hospital complaining of preceding throbbing headache and tonic convulsions. Headache and convulsive seizure disappeared and his consciousness recovered to alert within 2 hours after onset. Neurological examination showed no abnormal findings. Laboratory examinations revealed high low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (179 mg/dL), renin (42 ng/mL/hour), aldosterone (265 pg/mL), noradrenaline (1031 pg/mL), and dopamine (79 pg/mL). In brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), fluid-attenuated inversion recovery, but not the diffusion-weighted image, showed high signal intensities in...

Two-Stage Cerebral Hemodynamic Changes in Staged Carotid Angioplasty and Stenting
We sought to assess the different patterns of cerebral hemodynamic changes in staged carotid angioplasty and stenting (CAS).

Successful delayed angioplasty of basilar artery occlusion presenting with intraarterial signal
【Background and Purpose】Generally, neurointervention is undertaken within 8 hours after the onset. Here, we reported a case of basilar artery occlusion (BAO) treated with neurointervention 21 hours after the onset.

Restenosis Predictors after Carotid Angioplasty and Stenting and Its Influence on Procedure Durability, Single-Center Experience
This article reports our experience regarding in-stent restenosis in the carotid arteries with special focus was given to angiographic morphology and clinical predictors of in-stent restenosis.

Visual Aids for Improving Patient Decision Making in Severe Symptomatic Carotid Stenosis
Because of the large amount of information to process and the limited time of a clinical consult, choosing between carotid endarterectomy (CEA) and carotid angioplasty with stenting (CAS) can be confusing for patients with severe symptomatic internal carotid stenosis (ICA).

Late Transient Contrast-Induced Encephalopathy after Percutaneous Coronary Intervention
Cerebrovascular events are a recognized complication of cardiac catheterization, with various neurological symptoms. The incidence is estimated to be .3%-.4%.1 A much more infrequent complication is a contrast-induced encephalopathy (CIE) described about 50 cases in the literature. The pathogenesis is believed to be a direct neurotoxic effect causing an osmotic disruption of the blood –brain barrier.2,3 Risk factors are hypertension, diabetes mellitus, renal impairment, large volumes of contrast, and previous adverse reaction to iodinated contrast.

Long-Term Outcome of Balloon Angioplasty Without Stenting for Symptomatic Middle Cerebral Artery Stenosis
A recent randomized controlled trial demonstrated that aggressive medical management was superior to angioplasty with stenting for intracranial stenosis. The purpose of this study was to assess initial and long-term outcomes of balloon angioplasty without stenting for symptomatic middle cerebral artery (MCA) stenosis.

Preprocedural Neutrophil to Albumin Ratio Predicts In-Stent Restenosis Following Carotid Angioplasty and Stenting
In-stent restenosis (ISR) is unfavorable to the long-term efficacy of carotid angioplasty and stenting (CAS). Inflammation plays a critical role in the development of ISR. The aim of the study was to investigate whether neutrophil to albumin ratio (NAR) is a predictor of ISR in patients undergoing CAS.

Simultaneous Angioplasty and Mechanical Thrombectomy in Tandem Carotid Occlusions. Incidence of Reocclusions and Prognostic Predictors
The best revascularization technique for tandem carotid occlusions is not clearly defined. The primary objective of this study is to describe our technical and clinical results, analyzing the main predictors of functional independence. The secondary objective is the analysis of stent reocclusion rate.

Effect of angioplasty and stent placement on sensorineural hearing loss and pulsatile tinnitus in a patient with severe internal carotid artery stenosis
Pulsatile tinnitus occurs due to turbulent blood flow through a stenotic vessel including the internal carotid artery. The presence of sensorineural hearing loss suggests involvement of the posterior circulation vasculature.
