Responses of immune organs following cerebral ischemic stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: The present results demonstrated that stroke is a systemic disease, which not only affects the brain, but also induces responses of immune organs. Mild Encephalitis/Encephalopathy with a Reversible Splenial Lesion in an Adult with Cerebellar Ataxia: A Case Report.
Abstract Mild encephalitis/encephalopathy with a reversible splenial lesion (MERS) is a clinicoradiological syndrome characterized by transient mild encephalopathy and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings of a reversible lesion in the splenium of the corpus callosum (SCC). Contrast-Enhanced High-Resolution MRI for Evaluating Time Course Changes in Middle Cerebral Artery Plaques.

Effect of Dual Therapy with Botulinum Toxin A Injection and Electromyography-controlled Functional Electrical Stimulation on Active Function in the Spastic Paretic Hand.
CONCLUSION: Task-orientated therapy with EMG-FES after BTX-A injection effectively reduced spasticity and improved upper limb motor function. Our results also suggest that spasticity occurs as a compensation for the force of the affected muscles and leads to misuse movements and ostensible dexterity in many patients. Too Early Initiation of Enteral Nutrition is Not Nutritionally Advantageous for Comatose Acute Stroke Patients.
CONCLUSION: It is nutritionally disadvantageous not to start nutritional support within 3 days after admission in comatose acute stroke patients. However, starting EN too early is not nutritionally beneficial, and TPN with 20% glucose fed through a tube is recommended as adequate nutrition for these patients. However, TPN should not be employed for longer than 10 days, because switching to EN after this period contributes to better nutritional recovery than continuing TPN. Abstract In recent years, our understanding of motor learning, neuroplasticity and functional recovery after the occurrence of brain lesion has grown significantly. Hemothorax after the intravenous administration of tissue plasminogen activator in a patient with acute ischemic stroke and rib fractures.
Abstract A 79-year-old man experienced sudden-onset left hemiparesis and disturbance of consciousness. Diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging showed an acute ischemic stroke in the territory of the right middle cerebral artery. He underwent systemic thrombolysis via the intravenous administration of tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA). Thoracic aortic aneurysms in octogenarians: the results of open surgical repair using hypothermic circulatory arrest with antegrade selective cerebral perfusion.
Conclusion: The early and late outcomes after thoracic aortic surgery at our hospital using HCA with ASCP in octogenarians are acceptable.
