Publications With Nephrological Themes Appearing Diachronically in the PubMed Bibliographical Database
CONCLUSIONS: We viewed a clear expansion of nephro-logical publications in the past decades. Hemodialysis remains the most frequently used term in nephrology-related publications. Historical analysis of the PubMed database is useful as a tool to understand the research and publication trends in nephrology, as we approach the new era of precision medicine.PMID:37496346 | DOI:10.6002/ect.IAHNCongress.14

History of Sleep Disorders in Chronic Kidney Disease: First Approach
CONCLUSIONS: Sleep disorders affect most patients with chronic kidney disease. No ascertained pharmacological therapy exists, and even a successful transplant does not totally restore a refreshing sleep. Longer nocturnal hemodialysis is of benefit. Sleep apnea may be cured with continuous positive airway pressure.PMID:37496359 | DOI:10.6002/ect.IAHNCongress.27

Familial Mediterranean Fever-Related Amyloidosis in Turkey: A Need for a Familial Mediterranean Fever Registry
Exp Clin Transplant. 2023 Jun;21(Suppl 2):101-104. doi: 10.6002/ect.IAHNCongress.24.ABSTRACTAmyloidosis has been well known since Rudolph Virchow named the condition in the 19th century. Most physicians were aware of the association between amyloidosis to chronic suppurative conditions and multiple myeloma. However, familial Mediterranean fever, although probably as ancient as the Galenic era, was appropriately identified only in the 21st century. The nomenclature was variable throughout history, but the name "FMF" has been universally adopted since the report from Heller and colleagues in 1958. In 1967, Sokmen and Ozdemir...

Long-Term Safety, Efficacy, Indications, and Criteria of Arteriovenous Fistula Ligation Following Kidney Transplant: A Patient-Driven Approach
CONCLUSIONS: In our study, the long-term risks of surgical complications and allograft impairment after ligation were negligible. As a result of our current findings and known positive cardiovascular benefit, patient-driven arteriovenous fistula ligation after kidney transplant should be routinely considered in patients with stable allograft function.PMID:37455468 | DOI:10.6002/ect.2023.0024

Graft-Versus-Host Disease Developed After En Bloc Kidney Transplant From a Pediatric Donor: A Case Report
We present a rare case of graft-versus-host disease in a patient who underwent kidney transplant. A patient who underwent hemodialysis received an en bloc kidney transplantfrom a pediatric donor, and the graft function was excellent. Mild diarrhea started on postoperative day 25. Six days after the onset of diarrhea, pancytopenia worsened and fever persisted. However, there were no test findings indicating infection or adverse medical effects. Graft-versus-host disease was diagnosed after a short tandem repeat evaluation of lymphocytes from the recipient's peripheral blood, which revealed 4.7% donor cells. The findings in t...
