High miR-126-3p levels associated with cardiovascular events in a general population
CONCLUSIONS: An increased plasma microRNAs profile was identified in hypertensive patients with albuminuria. Increased miR-126-3p suggest it may serve as a prognostic marker for cardiovascular events in a long-term general population. Further studies will assess the potential role of miR-126-3p as a guide for the status of endothelial dysfunction.PMID:37080818 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejim.2023.04.013

Prognostic implications of the 4S-AF scheme to characterize new-onset atrial fibrillation after myocardial infarction
CONCLUSIONS: Characterization of NOAF using the 4S-AF scheme aids in the risk stratification of AMI patients with NOAF.PMID:37037721 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejim.2023.04.003

Effect of extended duration of thromboprophylaxis for medically ill patients
CONCLUSIONS: Extended thromboprophylaxis, especially with LMWH, showed better efficacy in venous thromboembolism reduction with increased risk of major bleeding. The beneficial effect of LMWH with extended timing has also been shown in stroke patients. Overall, extended thromboprophylaxis is associated with a positive net clinical benefit.PMID:37029050 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejim.2023.03.032

The initial timing and dosage pattern of sacubitril/valsartan in patients with acute myocardial infarction undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention
CONCLUSIONS: Early use or high dosage of sacubitril/valsartan medication is associated with an improvement in clinical outcome. The low dose of sacubitril/valsartan is well tolerated and may be an acceptable alternative strategy.PMID:36990878 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejim.2023.03.019

The association between direct oral anticoagulant concentration upon acute stroke and stroke outcome
CONCLUSION: Among DOAC users who developed IS, low drug concentrations at hospital presentation predicted poor outcomes.PMID:36990874 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejim.2023.03.023
