Abnormal resting-state function within language network and its improvement among post-stroke aphasia
Behav Brain Res. 2023 Feb 11:114344. doi: 10.1016/j.bbr.2023.114344. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSeveral studies with resting-state magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) have examined functional impairments and plasticity within language network in patients with post-stroke aphasia (PSA). However, there is still ubiquitous inconsistency across these studies, partly due to restricted to very small sample size and the absence of validation with follow-up data. In the current study, we aimed at providing relatively strong evidence to support functional impairments and its reorganization in PSA. Here, the amplitude of low fre...

Effects of HF-rTMS on microglial polarization and white matter integrity in rats with poststroke cognitive impairment
This study aimed to evaluate the effect of 10 and 20Hz HF-rTMS on PSCI and the possible mechanisms. An ischemic stroke rat model was established by transient middle cerebral artery occlusion (tMCAO). The modified neurological deficit score (mNSS) and Morris water maze tests were conducted to assess neurological function and cognitive function. Luxol Fast Blue (LFB) staining was performed to evaluate white matter damage. Proinflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA). Immunofluorescence was used to assess microglial activation and polarization. Western blotting...

Cranial electrotherapy stimulation alleviates depression-like behavior of post-stroke depression rats by upregulating GPX4-mediated BDNF expression
Conclusion: CES improves depression-like behavior of PSD rats through upregulation of GPX4-mediated BDNF expression in the hippocampus.PMID:36116735 | DOI:10.1016/j.bbr.2022.114117
