Incidence of Stroke Following Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair for Descending Aortic Aneurysm: A Systematic Review of the Literature with Meta-analysis.
CONCLUSION: Stroke incidence is an important morbidity after TEVAR, and probably increases if the LSA is covered during the procedure, particularly in those without revascularisation. PMID: 27993454 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Multicentre International Registry of Open Surgical Versus Percutaneous Upper Extremity Access During Endovascular Aortic Procedures
CONCLUSIONS: AF and stroke rates during complex aortic procedures employing UEA are non-negligible. Therefore, selective use of UEA is warranted. Percutaneous access with vessel closure devices is associated with similar complication rates, but more adjunctive endovascular procedures are required to avoid surgical exposure.PMID:36740094 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2023.01.046

Effect of Left Subclavian Artery Revascularisation in Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.
CONCLUSION: The results of this review reveal that LSA revascularisation was associated with significantly lower peri-operative stroke and SCI rates. LSA revascularisation should be recommended for patients with LSA coverage in TEVAR. High quality RCTs are needed to further validate the conclusion. Displacement Forces in Iliac Landing Zones and Stent Graft Interconnections in Endovascular Aortic Repair: An Experimental Study.
CONCLUSIONS: Pulsatile flow through a tubular untapered stent graft causes forces of similar magnitude at both ends and induces pulsatile graft movements in its unsupported mid-section. Peak forces are close to those previously reported to be required to extract a stent graft. The forces and movements increase with increasing graft angulation and perfusion pressure. Improved anchoring of the distal end of stent grafts may be considered. PMID: 24445085 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Pathology Specific Early Outcome after Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair.
CONCLUSIONS: There was no difference in the incidence of in-hospital mortality, stroke, and spinal cord ischaemia between aneurysm and dissection. The higher rate of aortic related death in the dissection group may indicate the need to refine the clinical management of these patients, including procedural planning, endograft design, and operative technique. Outcome After Endovascular Repair of Ruptured Descending Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm: A National Multicentre Study.
CONCLUSIONS: This nationwide multicentre study of patients with rDTAA undergoing TEVAR showed acceptable short- but poor long-term survival. Adequate proximal and distal aortic sealing zones are important for technical success. High risk patients and post-operative complications need to be further addressed in an effort to improve outcome. PMID: 30910493 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair of Aortic Arch Pathologies with the Conformable Thoracic Aortic Graft: Early and 2 year Results from a European Multicentre Registry.
CONCLUSION: The CTAG stent graft shows high deployment accuracy, good conformability, and clinical effectiveness in the treatment of aortic arch pathologies. However, thoracic endovascular aortic repair in the arch is associated with a relatively high stroke rate. Further studies with more patients and longer follow up are needed to evaluate the long-term results. PMID: 27107487 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Comparison of Total Arch and Partial Arch Transposition During Hybrid Endovascular Repair for Aortic Arch Disease.
CONCLUSION: Morbidity and mortality were high within the first year of hybrid endovascular therapy for aortic arch disease, implying that candidates for hybrid procedures need to be selected carefully. Hybrid endovascular repair with TAT was found to have peri-operative mortality, stroke, and long-term survival rates comparable with PAT, so hybrid endovascular repair may be considered, irrespective of type of arch reconstruction, when clinically indicated. Cervical Debranching in the Endovascular Era: A Single Centre Experience.
CONCLUSION: The results of cervical debranching procedures showed not only excellent patency rates, but also a significant rate of local complications. Carotid-subclavian bypass appeared to be safer with significantly fewer post-operative complications. Staged hybrid procedures also seemed to be safer. Midterm Outcomes of Zone 0 Antegrade Endograft Implantation During Type I Hybrid Aortic Arch Repair
CONCLUSION: Midterm outcomes of type I hybrid aortic arch repair with antegrade endograft implantation for aortic arch aneurysms are reported. Although the incidence of peri-operative stroke was high, late sac behaviour was acceptable.PMID:33773906 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2021.02.044

Timing and Outcome of Endovascular Repair for Uncomplicated Type B Aortic Dissection
CONCLUSION: The present study indicates that TEVAR for high risk uTBAD in the acute phase was associated with a trend toward higher rates of early complications, while the long term outcomes were comparable with those of the subacute phase.PMID:33846073 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2021.02.026

Midterm Outcomes of an Adjustable Puncture Device for In Situ Fenestration During Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair
CONCLUSION: In this largest mechanical based ISF study to date, an adjustable puncture device was shown to facilitate the procedure of ISF during endovascular repair of aortic diseases involving the aortic arch, with high success. The midterm outcome demonstrates the efficacy and safety of the device in assisting with preservation of aortic arch branches.PMID:34750032 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2021.09.028
