IL-23 and IL-17 in Acute Ischemic Stroke: Correlation with Stroke Scales and Prognostic Value
CONCLUSION: IL-23 and IL-17 increase after stroke, but had no sufficient discriminative capacity to be of clinical use as outcome stroke predictors.PMID:34496287 | DOI:10.1016/j.clinbiochem.2021.09.003

The prognostic value of serum pregnancy-associated plasma protein A, S100 and high sensitivity C-reactive protein in acute ischemic stroke patients without heparin administration.
CONCLUSION:: Serum PAPP-A, S100 and hs-CRP were associated with stroke severity or outcome after ischemic stroke and may offer complementary information, essential for clinical decision making. Serum PAPP-A showed a potential value for the evaluation of stroke clinically. PMID: 25117449 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Association of LDLc to HDLc ratio with carotid plaques in a community-based population with a high stroke risk: a cross-sectional study in China.
CONCLUSION: Higher LDLc/HDLc was significantly associated with the presence of carotid plaques in the Chinese population with a high risk of stroke. PMID: 33242435 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Biomarkers in the prognostic evaluation of ischemic stroke: Is there benefit in the measurements of TREM-1 and TREM-2 in the acute phase?
CONCLUSION: In our study, TREM-1 and TREM-2 were significantly increased in AIS. Early elevation of TREM-1 correlated with stroke severity and it was an independent prognostic factor for stroke outcome.PMID:34339680 | DOI:10.1016/j.clinbiochem.2021.07.016

Identification of TLR Downstream Pathways in Stroke Patients.
CONCLUSIONS: We found that the MyD88-independent pathway and the ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis pathway, especially TRAF6, may be the most vital molecules among TLR downstream pathways in incidences of ischemic stroke. PMID: 23726813 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Association of PLA2G7 gene polymorphisms with ischemic stroke in northern Chinese Han population.
CONCLUSION: The study indicated that the A379V variant in PLA2G7 gene might contribute to ischemic stroke susceptibility in northern Chinese Han population. PMID: 24463064 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Diagnostic accuracy of biomarker D-dimer in patients after stroke suspected from venous thromboembolism: A diagnostic meta-analysis.
Abstract D-dimer is a promising biomarker for identification of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in patients with stroke. The purpose of our study is to evaluate the diagnostic value of D-dimer as a promising biomarker for VTE in patients after stroke. We performed an exhaustive search of leading databases including Pubmed, Embase, the Cochrane library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), and China Biology Medicine disc (CBM) from inception to Oct 13, 2017. We included studies written in English and Chinese. We included studies that appraised the diagnostic value of D-dimer with reference standard for VTE ...

Serum uric acid and risk of stroke: a dose-response meta-analysis
In conclusion, high serum uric acid level increases the risk of stroke, with a non-linear dose-response relationship.PMID:34025024 | PMC:PMC8129984 | DOI:10.3164/jcbn.20-94

Effects of vitamin B < sub > 12 < /sub > deficiency on risk and outcome of ischemic stroke
Clin Biochem. 2023 May 27:110591. doi: 10.1016/j.clinbiochem.2023.110591. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIschemic stroke is the most prevalent form of stroke and has a high incidence in older adults, characterized by high morbidity, mortality, disability, and recurrence rate. Vitamin B12 deficiency is prevalent in the elderly and has been reported to be associated with ischemic stroke. The mechanisms maybe include the disorder of methylation metabolism, accumulation of toxic metabolites, immune dysfunction, affecting gut microbial composition and gut-brain immune homeostasis, and toxic stress responses to the brain. Vitamin...
