Non-Calcified Coronary Artery Plaque on Coronary Computed Tomography Angiogram: Prevalence and Significance
CONCLUSIONS: NCP is the initial precursor of calcified plaque and serves as a prominent marker of early coronary atherosclerosis. By detecting NCP during early stages, several measures can be implemented which can alter the evolutionary course of the underlying disease. This can potentially lead to a lower incidence of cardiovascular events.PMID:37736993 | DOI:10.3390/tomography9050140

Smoking, immunity, and cardiovascular prognosis: a study of plasma IgE concentration in patients with acute myocardial infarction
CONCLUSION: Cotinine exhibits a positive association with AMI, wherein IgE plays a mediating role. Elevated plasma levels of IgE was positively associated with AMI and poor prognosis, which further confirms the adverse role of smoking on the incidence of AMI and prognosis. (Clinical trial registration: ChiCTR2100053000).PMID:37731521 | PMC:PMC10508960 | DOI:10.3389/fcvm.2023.1174081

Assessing Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Progression by Using Perivascular Adipose Tissue Attenuation on Computed Tomography Angiography
CONCLUSION: Elevated PVAT attenuation is independently associated with AAA progression, including patients of AAA with ILT, suggesting the potential of PVAT attenuation as a predictive imaging marker for AAA expansion.PMID:37724591 | DOI:10.3348/kjr.2023.0339

Transient left bundle branch block associated with very high coronary artery calcium: a case report
We present a case of very high CAC in a 64-year-old woman with hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and hyperlipidemia presenting with dyspnea. Initial electrocardiogram (ECG) demonstrated normal conduction with a heart rate of 76 beats/min, but new T-wave inversions in V1-V4 and a high-sensitivity troponin-I (hsTnI) value of 6 ng/L (normal < 6 ng/L). Repeat ECG in the emergency department showed normal sinus rhythm (heart rate of 80 beats/min); however, it subsequently demonstrated a left bundle branch block (LBBB) with a repeat hsTnI of 7 ng/L. Stress testing with pharmacologic single-photon emission computerized tomography...

Angiography-based hemodynamic features predict recurrent ischemic events after angioplasty and stenting of intracranial vertebrobasilar atherosclerotic stenosis
CONCLUSIONS: In patients with intracranial vertebrobasilar atherosclerosis treated with PTAS, preprocedural prolonged TTP of the target vessel and shortened trans-stenotic TTP difference were associated with stroke relapse. Q-DSA-defined hemodynamic parameters provided incremental predictive value over conventional parameters for stroke recurrence.CLINICAL RELEVANCE STATEMENT: Quantitative DSA analysis enables intuitive observation and semi-quantitative evaluation of peri-therapeutic cerebral blood flow. More importantly, quantitative DSA-defined hemodynamic parameters have the potential for risk stratification of patients...

Computed tomography angiography-based radiomics model to identify high-risk carotid plaques
CONCLUSIONS: The combined model of the radiomics features of carotid plaques and PVAT and the traditional CTA features significantly contributes to identifying high-risk carotid plaques compared with traditional CTA model.PMID:37711840 | PMC:PMC10498225 | DOI:10.21037/qims-23-158

Effect of dominant vertebral artery angle on basilar artery curvature and plaque
CONCLUSIONS: The dominant VA angle was independently associated with BA plaque, and a dominant VA angle greater than 80° may be a marker for a high risk of posterior circulation atherosclerosis.PMID:37711832 | PMC:PMC10498226 | DOI:10.21037/qims-23-74

Early Computed Tomography Coronary Angiography and Preventative Treatment in Patients with Suspected Acute Coronary Syndrome A secondary analysis of the RAPID-CTCA trial
CONCLUSIONS: Prescription patterns of preventative treatment varied during index hospitalisation in patients with suspected acute coronary syndrome. Early CTCA facilitated targeted individualisation of these therapies based on the extent of coronary artery disease.PMID:37709109 | DOI:10.1016/j.ahj.2023.09.003

Thoracic Aortic Plaque Burden and Prediction of Cardiovascular Events in Patients Undergoing 320-row Multidetector CT Coronary Angiography
CONCLUSIONS: We found that comprehensive non-invasive evaluation of TAPB and CAD has prognostic value in MACE risk stratification for suspected CAD patients undergoing CCTA.PMID:37704429 | DOI:10.5551/jat.64251

Analysis of circulating ceramides and hexosylceramides in patients with coronary artery disease and type II diabetes mellitus
CONCLUSION: This study suggests that levels of circulating HexCers are downregulated in patients with CAD and concomitant DM compared to patients without DM. Further research is needed to investigate the underlying mechanisms and the suitability of HexCers as possible mediators and/or prognostic markers in CAD.PMID:37700226 | DOI:10.1186/s12872-023-03454-x
