COVID-19 Impact on Stroke Admissions during France ’s First Epidemic Peak: An Exhaustive, Nationwide, Observational Study
Conclusion: Stroke hospitalizations in France experienced a decline during the first lockdown period, which cannot be explained by a sudden change in stroke incidence. This decline is therefore likely to be a direct, or indirect, result of the COVID-19 pandemic.Cerebrovasc Dis

Basilar Artery Tortuosity May Be Associated with Early Neurological Deterioration in Patients with Pontine Infarction
Conclusions: High BA tortuosity may be a factor associated with END in patients with pontine infarction. As END was related to unfavorable clinical outcome, this risk may have to be carefully considered in patients with high BA tortuosity.Cerebrovasc Dis

Stroke Hospital Admissions during the COVID-19 Outbreak in S ão Paulo, Brazil
Conclusion: We argue for policies aimed at improving stroke care and developing awareness campaigns regarding the importance of early diagnosis and treatment, as even in less severe presentations, stroke can trigger an increase in mortality, cost, and long-term disability.Cerebrovasc Dis

Association of Elevated Body Mass Index with Functional Outcome and Mortality following Acute Ischemic Stroke: The Obesity Paradox Revisited
Conclusion: This cross-sectional analysis demonstrates a lower likelihood of discharge to home as well as in-hospital mortality in obese patients following AIS, suggestive of a protective effect of obesity against mortality but not against all poststroke neurological deficits in the short term which would necessitate placement in acute rehabilitation and long-term care facilities.Cerebrovasc Dis

The 21-Year Trend of Stroke Incidence in a General Japanese Population: Results from the Takashima Stroke Registry, 1990 –2010
Conclusions: In this population-based registry, there was a significant reduction in incidence of stroke from 1990 to 2010. Although the speed of reduction in stroke incidence appears to have slowed down after 2000, continuous public health measures are required to provide further protection against stroke.Cerebrovasc Dis

Effect of SGLT2 Inhibitors on Risk of Stroke in Diabetes: A Meta-Analysis
Conclusions: In summary, this meta-analysis indicated that the use of SGLT2 inhibitors did not decrease the risk of stroke. And for some T2DM patients with high-risk factor of stroke, SGLT2 inhibitors therapy may be more suitable compared to some oGLD such as dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors. The results of this meta-analysis are necessary to be confirmed with further studies and clinical trials.Cerebrovasc Dis
