Predictors of Symptomatic Intracranial Hemorrhage after Endovascular Thrombectomy in Acute Ischemic Stroke: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Conclusions: This study identified many predictors of sICH. Some of the results lack robust evidence given the limitations of the study. Therefore, larger cohort studies are needed to confirm these predictors.Cerebrovasc Dis

Association of 24 h Blood Pressure on Functional Outcome in Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke Post Intravenous Thrombolysis
Conclusion: An elevated mean SBP and greater SBP variability were predictive of poor functional outcomes, whereas a high SBP variability predicted sICH. Our study emphasizes the need for BP control and minimizing large fluctuations to achieve good poststroke outcomes.Cerebrovasc Dis

Urinary Immunoglobulin G Is Associated with Deep and Infratentorial Cerebral Microbleeds in Stroke Patients
Conclusions: Urinary IgG was associated with the prevalence of D/I or mixed location CMBs in TIA or ischemic stroke patients. Our findings provide new insights into the association between urinary IgG and the distribution of CMBs.Cerebrovasc Dis

Multiparametric Neuroimaging and Its Association with Non-Contrast Computed Tomography in Late-Window Large Vessel Occlusion Acute Stroke
Conclusions: A great majority of patients who presented a LVO in the late window fulfilled guidelines imaging criteria to undergo EVT, especially those with high ASPECTS ( ≥6). Our data suggest that NCCT with CT angiography could be a reasonable approach for AIS treatment selection also in the late window.Cerebrovasc Dis

Treatment Delays and Chance of Reperfusion Therapy in Patients with Acute Stroke: A Danish Nationwide Study
Conclusions: Patient delay remains the most important barrier for use of reperfusion therapy among acute ischemic stroke patients calling 1-1-2, whereas system delay seems independent of patient delay.Cerebrovasc Dis

Jamaican Susumber Berry Poisoning Mimicking Acute Stroke
Conclusions: SB toxicity can cause neurological symptoms that mimic an acute stroke typically with a posterior circulation symptom complex. Altered SB toxins (from post-harvest stressors or temperature changes) might stimulate muscarinic/nicotinic cholinergic receptors or inhibit acetylcholinesterase, causing gastrointestinal, neurological, and autonomic symptoms. In cases of multiple patients presenting simultaneously to the ED with stroke-like symptoms or when stroke-like symptoms fail to localize, a toxicological etiology (such as SB toxicity) should be considered.Cerebrovasc Dis

Clinical Significance of Plasma D-Dimer and Fibrinogen in Outcomes after Stroke: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Conclusion: Fibrinogen and D-dimer may be associated with adverse outcomes in patients with stroke, suggesting that they may serve as possible biomarkers for post-stroke adverse outcomes.Cerebrovasc Dis

White Matter Hyperintensities and Poststroke Apathy: A Fully Automated MRI Segmentation Study
Conclusion: This is an exploratory study that supports the view of PSA as a distinct syndrome from PSD mediated mainly by diffuse white matter hyperintensities, which suggests that WM disruption is an important pathway to the development of apathy in stroke patients.Cerebrovasc Dis

Cerebral Small Vessel Disease Burden and Futile Reperfusion after Endovascular Treatment for Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke
Conclusions: We demonstrated that cerebral SVD assessed with baseline brain MRI is associated with the futility of successful recanalization after EVT and any hemorrhagic transformation but not with early stroke progression or recurrence. Nevertheless, our findings do not justify withholding EVT in otherwise eligible patients with AIS based on the presence of severe SVD.Cerebrovasc Dis

Localized Elevation of Wall Shear Stress Is Linked to Recent Symptoms in Patients with Carotid Stenosis
Conclusions: Patients with carotid artery stenosis are more likely to experience acute ischemic cerebrovascular accidents if they have higher WSS. Simultaneous assessment with hemodynamic parameters like WSS along with stenosis severity may aid risk stratification in patients with asymptomatic carotid artery stenosis.Cerebrovasc Dis

Safety of Apixaban Monotherapy for Non-Valvular Atrial Fibrillation-Related Acute Stroke with Intra-/Extracranial Artery Stenosis
Conclusion: Apixaban monotherapy appears safe for the prevention of further adverse events in the Stenosis group patients similar to the No stenosis group patients. Concomitant use of an antiplatelet might not be favorable in patients with stenosis.Cerebrovasc Dis

Clinical Predictors for Early Mortality of Patients with Acute Basilar Artery Occlusion
Conclusions: Recanalization failure, herniation, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, and pneumonia are potentially modifiable risk factors for early mortality in basilar artery occlusion.Cerebrovasc Dis

Successful Thrombectomy for Large Vessel Occlusion after Emergent Transoceanic Patient Transport: An International Hub and Spoke Collaboration
Mechanical thrombectomy (MT) is the standard of care for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke due to large vessel occlusion, but the capacity to deliver this treatment can be limited in less populous areas and island territories. Here, we describe the case of a man who developed right MCA syndrome while in Bermuda who was successfully diagnosed, transported over 800 miles to the East Coast of the USA, and treated with MT within 24 h. This case underscores the benefits of having organized systems of care and demonstrates the feasibility of urgent transoceanic patient transportation for stroke requiring MT.Cerebrovasc Dis
