Intravenous Thrombolysis Is Associated with Less Disabling Stroke and Lower Mortality in Multiple-Pass Endovascular Thrombectomy
Conclusion: Bridging IVT may benefit patients with anterior circulation stroke with LVO who qualify for EVT and who require multiple passes to achieve reperfusion.Cerebrovasc Dis

Longitudinal Reproducibility of CO < sub > 2 < /sub > -Triggered BOLD MRI for the Hemodynamic Evaluation of Adult Patients with Moyamoya Angiopathy
Conclusions: CO2 BOLD MRI is a promising tool for mid- and long-term follow-up examinations of cerebral hemodynamics in moyamoya patients. Systematic prospective evaluation is required prior to making it a routine examination.Cerebrovasc Dis

Somatic Mosaicism in the Pathogenesis of de novo Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformations: A Paradigm Shift Implicating the RAS-MAPKSignaling Cascade
Cerebral arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are leading causes of lesional hemorrhagic stroke in both the pediatric and young adult population, with sporadic AVMs accounting for the majority of cases. Recent evidence has identified somatic mosaicism in key proximal components of the RAS-MAPK signaling cascade within endothelial cells collected from human sporadic cerebral AVMs, with early preclinical models supporting a potential causal role for these mutations in the pathogenesis of these malformations. Germline mutations that predispose to deregulation of the RAS-MAPK signaling axis have also been identified in hereditar...

Decline and Recurrence of Stroke Consultations during the COVID-19 Pandemic Lockdown Parallels Population Activity Levels
Conclusions: While the decrease in emergency admissions including stroke during CPL can only be in part attributed by patients not seeking medical attention, stroke awareness in the pandemic, and direct COVID-19 triggered stroke remains of high importance. The number of consultations in TEMPiS during the lockdown parallels best with mobility of public transportation. As a consequence, exposure to common viruses, well-known triggers for acute cerebrovascular events and other diseases, are reduced and may add to the decline in stroke consultations. Further studies comparing national responses toward the course of the COVID-1...

Adherence to Antithrombotic Treatment and Ischemic Stroke Recurrence in Egypt and Germany: A Comparative Analysis
Conclusions: The large stroke recurrence burden in Egypt may be partly explained by differing adherence to secondary preventative antithrombotic pharmacotherapy. Predictors of medication nonadherence have to be addressed to reduce stroke recurrence disparities.Cerebrovasc Dis

Increased Rates of Hemorrhages after Endovascular Stroke Treatment with Emergency Carotid Artery Stenting and Dual Antiplatelet Therapy
Conclusion: AIS patients receiving EST with acute CAS and consecutive tirofiban or dual antiplatelet therapy suffered from an increased risk of relevant secondary intracranial bleeding. After adjusting for confounders, tirofiban and dual antiplatelet therapy were associated with higher bleeding rates.Cerebrovasc Dis

Treatment with Diazepam in Acute Stroke Prevents Poststroke Seizures: A Substudy of the EGASIS Trial
Conclusion: We found that a 3-day treatment with diazepam after acute cortical anterior circulation stroke prevents the occurrence of seizures in the first 3 months following stroke.Cerebrovasc Dis

Influence of Including Patients with Premorbid Disability in Acute Stroke Trials: The HeadPoST Experience
Conclusions: Early poststroke functional impairment that exceeded premorbid levels was associated with worse 90-day outcome, and this association increased with greater premorbid functional impairment. Yet, including premorbid impaired patients in the HeadPoST did not materially affect the subsequent treatment effect.Clinical Trial Registration: HeadPoST is registered at http://www.ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT02162017).Cerebrovasc Dis

Knowledge of Stroke Risk Factors and Signs in Parakou, a Northern City of Benin in West Africa
Conclusion: Knowledge of stroke risk factors and signs is low in northern Benin. Greater public education and awareness campaigns are required to address the burden of stroke.Cerebrovasc Dis

Does Body Mass Index Impact the Outcome of Stroke Patients Who Received Intravenous Thrombolysis?
Conclusions: After adjusting for confounding factors such as age, baseline National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and comorbidities, obesity was not associated with an unfavorable functional outcome at discharge nor with a higher risk of sICH in patients with AIS treated with IVT.Cerebrovasc Dis

Efficacy and Safety of Timely Urgent Superficial Temporal Artery-to-Middle Cerebral Artery Bypass Surgery in Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke: A Single-Institutional Prospective Study and a Pooled Analysis
Conclusions: Urgent STA-MCA bypass surgery can be regarded as a safe optional treatment to prevent cerebral infarct expansion and to improve clinical and radiological outcomes in highly selected patients.Cerebrovasc Dis

Prevalence of Mimics and Severe Comorbidity in Patients with Clinically Suspected Transient Global Amnesia
Conclusion: As approximately every tenth patient with suspected TGA either had an alternative diagnosis or a severe comorbidity, which had not been obvious at the time of admission, we consider in-patient treatment of all suspected TGA cases as appropriate, preferably in the setting of a stroke unit, as ischemic stroke was the by far most important diagnosis mimicking TGA.Cerebrovasc Dis

The Application of Tirofiban in the Endovascular Treatment of Acute Ischemic Stroke: A Meta-Analysis
Conclusions: The application of tirofiban in EVT of AIS may improve functional outcomes and reduce mortality at 3 months. Besides, tirofiban does not seem to increase the risk of symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage and intracranial hemorrhage, either in the anterior or posterior circulation stroke.Cerebrovasc Dis

A Meta-Analysis of Prognostic Factors in Patients with Posterior Circulation Stroke after Mechanical Thrombectomy
Conclusion: Our analysis indicates that hypertension, diabetes mellitus, or previous stroke correlate with poorer outcomes. Intriguingly, hyperlipidemia correlates with better prognosis. These factors may help inform triage decisions when considering MT for posterior circulation stroke patients. However, large, multicenter, randomized controlled trials are needed to validate these observations.Cerebrovasc Dis
