Unusual Techniques for Preserving Surgical and Oncologic Safety in Hepatectomy of Advanced Adrenal Malignancy with Vena Cava and Liver Invasion
We report herein three cases of major hepatectomy with IVC invasion and discuss several surgical tips.Patients and MethodsFrom March 2011 to February 2014, we retrospectively reviewed three cases of adrenal malignancy with liver and IVC invasion. Based on the severity of the malignant tumor, each case illustrates a different method to address surgical complications and maintain oncologic safety. Hemodynamic Stability During Pheochromocytoma Resection: Lessons Learned Over the Last Two Decades
Conclusions Postoperative outcomes following pheo resection have improved over the last two decades. Preoperative α-blockade plays a significant role in improving intraoperative hemodynamics and post-op outcomes. Increased doses of phenoxybenzamine and utilization of laparoscopic approaches have likely contributed to improved outcomes in the last decade. Intraoperative magnesium use may provide protection against hemodynamic instability and warrants further study.

A Simple and Reliable Method for Intracorporeal Circular-Stapled Esophagojejunostomy Using a Hand-Sewn Over-and-Over Suture Technique in Laparoscopic Total Gastrectomy

Diabetes Mellitus and Increased Postoperative Risk of Acute Renal Failure After Hepatectomy for Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A Nationwide Population-Based Study
Conclusions DM is associated with a significantly high risk of septicemia and acute renal failure, but not with other major complications or mortality, after hepatectomy for HCC.
