PCV54 To Evaluate the Medication Persistence of Direct Oral Anticoagulants Among Patients with Atrial Fibrillation, Hypertension, Diabetes and Hyperlipidemia
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is an independent risk factor of stroke, the most common disability in the United States. When used adequately, Direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) substantially reduce the stroke events in patients with AF. Despite documented beneficial effects of anticoagulation therapy, poor persistence to DOACs is widely reported potentially due to the lack of frequent laboratory monitoring. Comorbidities frequently associated with AF include hypertension, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia, which further increase morbidity and mortality.

PCV22 Estimating the Reduction in Medical Care Costs Associated with Ticagrelor and Aspirin in Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke or TIA
The efficacy of ticagrelor 90mg and aspirin (ticagrelor-aspirin) for the prevention of stroke following an ischaemic stroke (IS) or transient ischaemic attack (TIA) was evaluated in the Acute STroke or Transient IscHaemic Attack Treated With TicAgreLor and ASA for PrEvention of Stroke and Death (THALES, NCT03354429) trial. Ticagrelor-aspirin resulted in a 17% reduction in the risk of stroke or death over 30 days versus aspirin, but with more bleeding events. Ticagrelor 90mg is approved to reduce stroke risk in patients with acute IS (NIH Stroke Scale score ≤5) or high-risk TIA by the Food and Drug Administration.

Cost-Effectiveness Analysis of a Pharmacist-Led Medication Therapy Management Program: Hypertension Management
Uncontrolled hypertension is a common cause of cardiovascular disease, which is the deadliest and costliest chronic disease in the United States. Pharmacists are an accessible community healthcare resource and are equipped with clinical skills to improve the management of hypertension through medication therapy management (MTM). Nevertheless, current reimbursement models do not incentivize pharmacists to provide clinical services. We aim to investigate the cost-effectiveness of a pharmacist-led comprehensive MTM clinic compared with no clinic for 10-year primary prevention of stroke and cardiovascular disease events in pat...

Trade-Offs in Quality-of-Life Assessment Between the Modified Rankin Scale and Neuro-QoL Measures
We aimed to describe the physical and cognitive health of patients with differing levels of post-stroke disability, as defined by modified Rankin Scale (mRS) scores. We also compared cross-sectional correlations between the mRS and the Quality of Life in Neurological Disorders (Neuro-QoL) T-scores to longitudinal correlations of change estimates from each measure.

Risk of Dependency: A Challenge for Health and Social Care Planning —Observational Stroke Cohort
After a stroke, families require the coordinated assistance of health and social care. Currently there is a lack of comprehensive evaluation and assessment tools to identify discharge needs, and there is separate management of health and social resources, and access to these services is variable between regions.

Cost-Utility Analysis of Apixaban versus Warfarin in Atrial Fibrillation Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease
Warfarin use for stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation (AF) patients with chronic kidney disease is debated. Apixaban was shown to be safer than warfarin, with superior reduction in the risk of stroke, systemic embolism, mortality, and major bleeding irrespective of kidney function.

Mapping the Modified Ashworth Scale and Physician ’s Global Assessment to Preference-Based Health Utilities in Adults with Lower Limb Spasticity
The relationship between severity of lower limb spasticity and quality of life has not been previously characterized. We sought to quantify this relationship among adults with lower limb spasticity from stroke or traumatic brain injury.

Comparing Quality of Life of (RT-PA) with No-(RT-PA) in Stroke Attacked Patients
Stroke has been considered as one of the most common neurological disease life-threatening and a global health problem. It causes disability in adults and ranked as the third leading causes of human mortality worldwide. The aim of this study was to compare the quality of life in Stroke ’s patients in both treated and not treated groups with (rt-PA).

The Economic Impact of Caregiver For Patients With Atrial Fibrillation: An Italian Survey
Atrial fibrillation (also called AF) is an irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia) caused by anatomical and electrophysiological features of left atrium. It can increase the risk of blood clots which can lead to stroke, heart failure and other heart-related complications. An average of 2.04% of the population is living with AF and the role of caregiver is very relevant for them. Generally, caregiver is a family member (informal) or an expert (formal), who takes care of a person suffering from a chronic disease.
