Code stroke: A mismatch between number of activation and number of thrombolysis.
CONCLUSION: The majority of code stroke patients were stroke patients; however, most of them could not be treated with thrombolytic therapy. These findings underscore the need for further support from the BNHI in order for health-care providers to implement the code stroke systems successfully. PMID: 24961186 [PubMed - in process]

Validating the diagnosis of acute ischemic stroke in a National Health Insurance claims database.
CONCLUSION: The PPV of a diagnosis of AIS in the NHI claims data was high. Using five-digit ICD-9 codes to identify AIS cases will markedly decrease the false-positive rate compared with using the commonly used three-digit method. PMID: 24140108 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Effectiveness and safety of extracranial carotid stent placement: A nationwide self-controlled case-series study.

Prevalence of diabetic macrovascular complications and related factors from 2005 to 2014 in Taiwan: A nationwide survey.

Prevalence of hypertension and dyslipidemia and their associations with micro- and macrovascular diseases in patients with diabetes in Taiwan: An analysis of nationwide data for 2000-2009.
CONCLUSION: Although progressively increased prevalence of dyslipidemia and hypertension was observed in patients with diabetes in Taiwan, there was a decrease in the prevalence of stroke and CVD in the past 10 years. Among those with macrovascular diseases, except PVD, there was a trend of decreased prevalence of hypertension and dyslipidemia during the study period. In patients with microvascular diseases, prevalence of hypertension and dyslipidemia in patients with eye diseases increased in the past 10 years.
