Meta-Analysis of the Effects of Preoperative Embolization on the Outcomes of Carotid Body Tumor Surgery
ConclusionPreoperative embolization shows no statistically significant reducing in blood loss and operation time, also embolization does not decrease incidence of postoperative complications. It seems that embolization should not be a routine part of carotid body tumor surgery especially with the known potential risks and complications of this procedure .

Perioperative Risk Factors of Atrial Fibrillation Post CABG Surgeries, a Retrospective Non-Randomized Study
ConclusionThe current study found that low ejection fraction, dilated left atrium, hypertension, smoking, old age, male gender, prolonged bypass time, prolonged cross clamping time, renal impairment, previous myocardial infarction, ungrafted dominant right coronary artery, low temperatures on bypass, early ischemic changes postoperative, hypokalemia, use of adrenaline and nor adrenaline, all of these factors were a significant predictors for development of atrial fibrillation after cardiac surgery.

Ministernotomy for Aortic Valve Replacement Versus Conventional Sternotomy, a Choice for a Better outcome
Conclusion Ministernotomy Aortic valve replacement was found to be a safe procedure compared to full sternotomy approach. Patients who had their surgery through the mini approach had less amount of blood loss, blood transfusion requirements, ventilation time which all led to less duration of ICU and hos pital stay, resulting in a better outcome for the .patients

Electroencephalographic Findings in a Cohort of Egyptian Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Patients with Neuropsychiatric Manifestations
ConclusionNot all patients with NPSLE must have abnormal brain MRI or EEG. EEG is a useful assistant tool in diagnosing and studying the different manifestations of NPSLE especially seizure disorder and acute confusional state, but it cannot be used as a screening test alone for detecting NPSLE and must be supplemented by neuroimaging studies.

Study the Value of Interleukin-6 As Diagnostic and Predictive marker of Cardiac Events in St Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction
ConclusionFrom this current study we revealed that: STEMI patients have increased level of interleukin-6 compared to those normal persons. Interleukin-6 may be a potentially useful marker for diagnosis of STEMI. Interleukin-6 may be helpful prognostic value for future cardiac mortality in STEMI patients. The level of interleukin-6 is not affected by the extent of myocardial damage and necrosis. Interleukin-6 is an inflammatory cytokine.Recommendations From this study we recommend the use of interleukin-6 level as good diagnostic marker for diagnosis of ST segment elevation myocardial infarction, Also this study recommend t...

Predictors of Postoperative Atrial Fibrillation after Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting: A Prospective Cohort Study
ConclusionThere are a wide range of significant epidemiological, clinical, and operative predictors for the development of post-CABG AF including older age, female gender, large LA diameter, higher CHA2DS2-VASc score, valve replacement and postoperative inotropic support. Nevertheless, further large-scale studies are still needed to confirm our findings.

Echocardiographic Predictors of Atrial Fibrillation after Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting
ConclusionsThere is no significant difference between the two groups regarding conventional echo parameters, TDI& by speckle tracking technique (LA strain& LVGLS %).However, patients who developed POAF were older,& left main lesions are more likely to have left main lesions.

Effect of high dose statin preloading on TIMI flow in patients presenting with ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction undergoing Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention
ConclusionHigh intensity statin loading before primary PCI resulted in improved post-procedural TIMI flow, MBG, complete ST-segment resolution and ejection fraction as measured by M-mode but did not decrease incidence of in-hospital MACE.

Comparison between preoperative loading dose with Ticagrelor and Clopidogrel on myocardial perfusion during intervention in patients with STsegment elevation myocardial infarction undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention
ConclusionTicagrelor loading before primary PCI resulted in improved TIMI flow, MBG but did not decrease incidence of in-hospital MACE.

New Onset of Atrial Fibrillation" as an Outcome Predictor in Critically Ill Patients with Sepsis: A Systemic Review
ConclusionNOAF is a common occurrence in critically ill patients with sepsis, and its incidence rises with increasing severity of disease. Our Meta-analysis suggests that it is independently associated with poor outcome. In view of these findings there is a need for better quality observational studies, because reliable identification of patients with sepsis who are prone for the development of AF may allow for early pharmacological interventions to prevent this complication.

Bilateral ptosis caused by patent foramen ovale-associated stroke
A 39-year-old woman presented with sudden onset bilateral ptosis and binocular diplopia for 3 days. The double vision was horizontal and most prominent when she was looking to the left side. The severity of symptoms does not vary over the day. She denied vertigo, headache, ocular pain, limb weakness, paresthesia, alcohol usage and botulinum toxin injection. Past medical history and family history were unremarkable. Neurological examination revealed bilateral ptosis, limited adduction in the right eye and normal pupils (Figure  1A). Other cranial nerves, extremity strength, coordination and sensory tests were intact. Deep ...
