LncRNA KCNQ1OT1 Participates in Ox-LDL-Induced Proliferation/Apoptosis Imbalance in Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells by Regulating the MiR-196a-5p/FOXO1 Axis
Backgroud The present study aimed to investigate the function and regulatory mechanisms of lncRNA KCNQ1OT1 in vascular smooth muscle cells under oxidation low lipoprotein stimulation. Methods RNA sequencing was used to detect transcriptome changes of vascular smooth muscle cells treated with oxidation low lipoprotein. KCNQ1OT1, miR-196a-5p, and FOXO1 expression levels in VSMCs after oxidation low lipoprotein treatment were assessed using qRT-PCR and western blotting. RNA immunoprecipitation, RNA pull-down, and dual-luciferase reporter assay were used to confirm the interaction among lncRNA KCNQ1OT1, miR-196a-5p, and FOXO1.

Stroke and embolism in patients with left ventricular hypertrabeculation/noncompaction
Left ventricular hypertrabeculation/noncompaction(LVHT) is characterized by extensive trabeculations. LVHT has been reported to be associated with stroke or embolism(S/E). Aim of the study was to compare characteristics and prognosis of LVHT-patients with and without S/E to identify potential risk factors for S/E.

Sarcopenia Affects Functional Independence Measure motor Scores in Elderly Patients with Stroke
Sarcopenia is more prevalent in elderly patients with stroke than in the general elderly population 1 –4 and is more likely to affect patient outcomes. Previous studies have reported that sarcopenic patients are more likely to develop serious outcomes, such as death,2,5 falls, 5–7 and fall-related trauma,8 than non-sarcopenic patients. In stroke patients with diverse neurological symptoms, such as motor paralysis and sensory deficits, 9 outcomes such as death and falls, as well as activities of daily living (ADL) may be affected.

The Relationship Between Age Shock Index, and Severity of Stroke and In-Hospital Mortality in Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke
Shock index (SI) has been reported to help us predict adverse prognosis in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS). However, the prognostic value of age SI and age modified shock index (MSI) in acute ischemic stroke is unknown. In our study, we aimed to examine the association between the severity of the stroke and in-hospital mortality, age SI and age MSI in patients with AIS.

Mastering Health Following Minor Stroke —A Qualitative Explorative Study
Two thirds of stroke victims only experience minor or transient neurological deficits1 and are usually discharged home without follow-up care. Yet, cognitive difficulties, such as impaired memory, concentration, and multi-tasking, and problems with reading, writing, and communication are common in the months after.2
