Investigation of Vaspin Level in Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke
This study was intended to investigate the relation between vaspin and stroke and stroke and other risk factors.Methods: A total of 50 patients with stroke, as 28 men (56%) and 22 women (44%), and a total of 50 healthy individuals, as 25 men (50%) and 25 women (50%), were enrolled in the study. The Impact of World and European Football Cups on Stroke in the Population of Dijon, France: A Longitudinal Study from 1986 to 2006
Conclusions: Watching European football competitions had a positive impact in the city of Dijon with a decrease of stroke numbers. European championship is possibly associated with higher television audience and long-lasting euphoria although other factors may be involved. Further studies using nationwide data are recommended to validate these findings.

A Blood-based Biomarker Panel to Detect Acute Stroke

The Impact of Comprehensive Stroke Care Capacity on the Hospital Volume of Stroke Interventions: A Nationwide Study in Japan: J-ASPECT Study
We examined the effect of hospital characteristics, having a t-PA protocol, and the number of fulfilled CSC items (total CSC score) on the hospital volume of t-PA infusion, removal of intracerebral hemorrhage, and coiling and clipping of intracranial aneurysms performed in 2009.Results: Approximately 55% of hospitals responded to the survey. Association between Helicobacter pylori Infection and Stroke: A Meta-analysis of Prospective Observational Studies
Conclusions: In conclusion, our formal meta-analysis indicated no strong association between H. pylori infection and stroke, neither in those with cytotoxin-associated gene-A–positive infection. We believe that future epidemiologic studies of H. pylori and stroke are unlikely to be fruitful.

Association of Variants in KCNK17 Gene with Ischemic Stroke and Cerebral Hemorrhage in a Chinese Population
Conclusions: The T carrier of an SNP (rs12214600) is associated with reduced risk of cerebral hemorrhage in the Chinese population, together with previous findings that SNPs rs10947803 and rs12214600 in the KCNK17 gene are associated with hemorrhagic stroke, but none of the SNPs tested had an association with ischemic stroke. KCNK17 may be important in the pathogenesis of cerebral hemorrhage.

Predicting Daily Use of the Affected Upper Extremity 1 Year after Stroke
The ultimate goal of upper extremity (UE) stroke rehabilitation is for the individual with stroke to return using their arms and hands during daily activities in their own environment. No studies have monitored arm use as individuals with stroke transition from rehabilitation to the home setting. This longitudinal study compared the functional ability and daily use of the affected UE of individuals with stroke between discharge to home and 12 months after stroke and predicted the UE daily use 12 months after stroke.

Acute Stroke Registry Malaysia, 2010-2014: Results from the National Neurology Registry
Background: Stroke remains a major health burden worldwide. The incidence and prevalence rates of stroke are decreasing in developed countries, an opposite trend is taking place in the Asia Pacific, where an increasing number of patients are being diagnosed with acute stroke. The results of the present study on acute stroke in multi-ethnic Malaysia will significantly contribute to the global stroke epidemiological data. We aimed to present epidemiological data of stroke including incidence and prevalence rates as well as associated risk factors from a prospective nationwide hospital-based registry from 2010 to 2014.
